Because it’s kinda funny.

March 28, 2010 by Kim Woodward

I sprained my ankle on Friday. That’s not the funny part.

Ask me how I sprained it.

(How did you sprain your ankle, Kim?)

I sprained it while “dancing” (I use the word dancing lightly) to The Real Slim Shady. “May I have your attention please? May I have your attention please? Will the real Slim Shady please stand up?”

Kim crashes to the ground. Hard.

And, there were witnesses.

I knew I twisted it pretty bad. But, it was also pretty hilarious and I didn’t want to be a baby. So, I laughed and tried walking it off. Then, I tried painting it off at my friend Shelly’s house that evening.

At 11 p.m. on Friday night, I had a sneaking suspicion that I soon would not be able to walk on it. But, I iced it and wrapped it (at Dr. Husband’s suggestion). That seemed to be just the ticket.

The moral of the story: I am not the real Slim Shady.

(And, in case you are wondering why I was dancing to The Real Slim Shady, it’s a simple explanation. We were trying to decide on my theme song. Duh!)

I hope you’re feeling better. And here’s a story that should make you laugh.

A couple months ago our dog Einstein stole some bread off the counter. Adam yelled at him but later felt bad. (Einstein is his baby). So he crawled under the kitchen table were Einstein was hiding out because he though Einstein felt sorry for what he had done and wanted to comfort him.

As he climbed out after cuddling with the dog under the kitchen table, he knocked over a chair which came crashing down on his big toe and broke it.

It took Adam two days to admit how he really broke his toe to me. And now I’m sharing it with you all, like any good wife should. 🙂

Thanks for sharing this story, it made my day yesterday. I might have laughed at you a little bit. 🙂
    Hope you heal quickly.

Hahahahahahaha. I’m sorry, but that is funny.

I broke my foot playing “Name That Tune” in Mexico. Completely sober. So I feel your pain. The bad news is that when people see you hobbling around, they will ask how you did it. I suggest you come up with some sort of athletic story.

Hope your ankle feels better soon!

Oh I hope you are feeling better and that it will heal quickly! I love that you shared that hilarious story with everyone and I am sure it will be memorable.

I sprained my ankle at work last year…totally splatted myself tripping over nothing in front of a large group of people. Just like you I immediately picked myself up and did a lap around the building to prove that I was just fine. Then got back to my office with an ankle three times the normal size. Grace is my middle name.

At least you were dancing and not walking…but I have to ask also what is the back story as Slim shady as a theme song:)?

OUCH! I am so sorry to hear of your injury but at least it was for a good cause. The right theme song is extremely important! What did you eventually select?

Maybe Gloria Estefan’s ‘Turn the Beat Around’ can be your comeback song!

What are the odds… I sprained my ankle Friday as well. Except I was playing with my two year old at the local playground. No good deed goes unpunished!

we all need a good theme song, but the fact that ‘the real slim shady’ was even a possibility for a theme song makes me wonder.

    hope you’re feeling better soon!
