Arizona holiday decor (gold and red holiday decor)

December 24, 2013 by Kim Woodward

I love to decorate our home for the holidays, but I also love decorating other people’s homes. It’s fun to work with different types of decorations and layouts and ideas. Plus, it’s nice to spend other people’s money for a change. 😉

While in Arizona, I helped my mom set up her Christmas decorations. My dad doesn’t like all the work that goes with Christmas decorating and it gets overwhelming for my mom to do it alone. It was fun to work on it together and it turned out really lovely and sparkly. I wanted to share here, too.

The main tree was decorated in shades of red and gold. (There was also a tree outside with red chili pepper lights.)Arizona Christmas Decor01

I grabbed the peacock feathers from a vase in my parent’s home and they are the perfect touch to the tree.

Arizona Lainey has a great collection of Santa Clauses. We attached each of them to a rustic ladder with fishing line. With the traditional Santa on her table.Arizona Christmas Decor05

The 12 Days of Christmas ornaments are super cute hanging from the chandelier.Arizona Christmas Decor06

And the table is set with her Christmas dinnerware.Arizona Christmas Decor07

I love my mom’s village with all my being. We brought attention to them on top of her cabinets. I use boxes and white sheets to cover the chords and add interest.Arizona Christmas Decor10

To add more height to the display, I made two super simple DIY signs (“Joy to the World the Lord has Come”). My dad cut two small piece of plywood and I used a free online printable as a template. They turned out nicely.Arizona Christmas Decor11

She loved the decor so much that she had parties all month! (Wonder who I get the party-planning gene from?)

My mom actually packed up some of her decorations to bring home to me for next year. I’m happy to say that the village will be living in our home going forward. I am so stinkin’ excited to try some new things next year.

And now I want to plan a November trip to Arizona every year.

Love the peacock feather addition to the tree! I might need to wrangle some up for my tree next year!

That picture of Henry with the surprised look in front of the tree is priceless. I think that is one of the best pictures I have seen. Love it. Rose
