A chevron zig zag baby quilt

July 8, 2013 by Kim Woodward

Quilting is sort of like riding a bike. I do it a lot and then I put it aside for a while to try other things. But then I pick it up again, and it feels good and natural. Over the weekend, I spent four hours on the couch watching episodes of “Lie to Me” and hand binding a quilt for our shop. Ahhhhh….. such a good way to spend a Saturday night. This is exactly what I meant by down-time for my monthly goals.

This quilt was a true collaborative effort. I cut the squares, we pieced them together at my dining room table, Michelle quilted and I bound it. It turned out so darn cute, I sort of want to keep it for myself.

But, since I have four quilts in Henry’s room, I think it’s time to let one go.

I love it! The gray and white is so timeless, yet in a modern chevron pattern.

I was recommended this web site by my cousin. I am not sure
whether this post is written by him as no one else know such detailed about my problem.

    You are amazing! Thanks!

That does sounds like the perfect night. I so wish I had time and energy to quilt. I keep saying I want to start.
    It’s beautiful!

    Go team.
It took you 4 hours to bind that. Ouch. You are now Sew Midwestern’s resident binder….because I may lose my mind doing that. 😛

    Beautiful quilt!!

I love that hand binding a quilt = taking it easy. 🙂 I think I’d say exactly the same thing… Because I actually can’t just sit still in front of the tv!

I don’t know if you follow Emily A. Clark, but you should definitely participate in her kids-spaces link up next week. Henry’s room is too cute not to brag about it!

It looks great! I’ve done basic patchwork quilts in the past (meaning 10-15 years ago), but I recently bought a pattern and fabric for a new quilt for my son. I’m kind of afraid to start it, so I’ll just think of you when I start chickening out. Thanks for the inspiration!

What?! You’ve started a shop?!? How did I miss this? You mean I can have you make beautiful stuff for me and I don’t have to hassle with the sewing? Sign me up!! 😉

Love it! So adorable! I really want to learn how to quilt one day!

I love this color combo and the quilt. And I agree…nothing more relaxing than hand binding. I used to hate that step, but now it may be one of my favorites. I think because I can do it on front of the TV or while Carter is playing and I don’t have to be by the sewing machine.

I love it–it’s adorable. And we used to watch Lie to Me! I didn’t know it was still on TV. 😛

Super cute – I love the color combo (gray and white is the best!). And it seriously only took you four hours? I can barely make a color-scheme decision in that amount of time, let alone accomplish a whole quilt. Nice work!

I get the impression she just hand-stitched the binding in that time. A whole quilt would be WOWZA!!

Yep – just the binding. I wish I could do an entire quilt in that time. Life would be a lot simpler.

Gah, this is so great. Makes me want to learn how to do stuff… like quilt!

What do I think? Well, I don’t think binding a quilt sounds like down time (haha), but I’m really glad it is for you and that you took the time to do it! I absolutely love the quilt.
