Valentine’s art and mantel

February 7, 2013 by Kim Woodward

A few more Valentine’s Day projects up in here. I never really decorated much for this particular holiday before, but I’m totally feeling the red and white and pink love this year.

I actually have an awesome piece of hoop art made by my awesome friend Shannon. I’ve been keeping it in my kitchen, but I wanted to move it to my mantel. And, I wanted to display it along with some new hoop art. Here’s how it ended up.

I was inspired by some hoop art at This Girl’s Life. I used cotton fabric from my stash and added black and red felt and grey felted wool. I added some simple embroidery and wham – fun Valentine’s art.

I’m sort of smitten. Fun, festive and quick. And I think it’d be great to change it up throughout the year with different looks.

But I think I’ll be keeping this beauty from Shannon all year. So cheerful.

I have another mantel project on the horizon. Okay. It’s mostly just in my mind now. But, soon. Until then, I’ll be enjoying my new view. (By the way, the art is a free printable from eighteen25.)

Missed it?

It all looks so cute! I totally forgot I ever sent you that! It was before we ever met, wasn’t it? Yours look so much cuter though and I think I might steal this idea for some St. Paddy’s day art because it’s hard to find stuff that’s not tacky.
