Christmas is almost here and we have been enjoying making plenty of holiday memories. This year, we’ve been enjoying our casual, family-friendly Christmas home. I wanted to share a quick tour of our holiday decor.
Outdoor farmhouse Christmas decor
When we get snow in December, I feel it’s necessary to get photos of the outside of our farmhouse for Christmas. It just looks so much prettier with a dusting of white.
I took these quickly as my kids were playing in the snow. As such, I realized when I got inside that I had a smudge of something on all the photos.
Such is life. It doesn’t bother me enough to retake photos.
The house still looks pretty. I hung wreaths on all the front windows, which is so simple and looks extra festive.
A red and white Christmas mantel
I can’t let the season pass without sharing our mantel decor for Christmas. This is one of my favorite spots to change up throughout the year, and during the holidays, I stick with my favorite pops of red.
What can I say? When I like something, I commit.
A festive holiday home tour
If there was ever a year to lean into the festive, jolly and merry, I think 2020 is the year. Like many of you, my family has been hunkered down since March. So, finding a way to make our home feel magical and special in the midst of a pandemic was extra high on my priority list this year.
I’m excited to share part of our festive holiday home tour today with a gaggle of other amazingly talented bloggers on the 2020 A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS HOME TOUR. Grab a hot cocoa (with extra whipped cream) and check out all the beautiful homes at the end of this post. It’s the perfect way to start off the month. Loads of inspiration for a lovely holiday home.
But first, I’ll share our festive holiday home tour, including our living room and kitchen. This is the main hub of our home, so it gets the greatest dose of holiday cheer.
The easiest way to hang wreaths on windows (and outdoor decor)
Our outdoor decor is pretty simple, but it looks extra festive and cheer with a dusting of snow.
My favorite outdoor decorations are the wreaths on the windows. We remove the screens on the front windows to hang. I can fold our windows in so I can hang them from inside. No roof walking for me.
After a few years of trial and error, I have found the very easiest and most secure way to hang them.
Holiday decorating with kids
The holiday season is upon us, and that means we are all decking halls, trimming trees, and trying desperately to keep our kids from destroying it all.
That can’t just be me.
