I read Cindy and Allison’s blogs and knew they were from the Twin Cities. I just emailed them to see if they wanted to plan a meetup. They agreed, and we had a lovely time at IKEA and with dinner and drinks at Crave (Mall of America). What a wonderful experience to meet new friends and have a lively discussion (plus the bonus of wine and sushi).
Jenny made out at IKEA (I’m sure she’ll blog more about that) and I also came home with some lovelies. The next morning, we packed the car to the top and cruised out of Minneapolis.
Between our shopping, our sewing machines and our luggage, we were packed to the brim. You can spot a few of our purchases here, including the light base.
So fun. Can’t wait to share more.
Do you remember your first time (to IKEA)?

oh my gosh, I love the car shot. I meant to take a photo of all the kitchen stuff in our car, but forgot. Glad you had a great time.
you can’t go wrong with ikea!
Ooooh I can’t wait to see what goodies you picked up!
ok, I’m embarrassed…. I’ve n.e.v.e.r. been to an IKEA! Heck I don’t even know where the closest one is! But it looks like you had fun!
Oh IKEA…I was 18, and I had no clue what to expect. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. My boyfriend at the time didn’t agree. Putz.
How can you NOT make our at IKEA! HA I was a little overwhelmed and excited all at the same time when I first went to there.
My heart is still going pitter patter. I am so glad my first trip was with blog friends (who did not mind waiting for me and carrying my purchases no less). I think another road trip is in order.
IKEA was so overwhelming when I first saw it – but I was in love!! Your trip just looks like SO much fun.
Hey Kim! I’ve been reading your blog for a while now (love it!), but I’ve never left a comment, so I guess I’ve just been a lurker. Now I’ve finally joined the blog world so I thought I’d finally say hello. I hope you are doing well!

Oh yeah, and I can’t remember my very first trip to IKEA, but I feel like a kid in a candy shop every time I get the chance to go!
We didn’t have Ikea where I grew up, so my first trip was when I was in college. Sadly, I didn’t need anything there at the time, but I remember walking in and being amazed at all the awesome stuff there! I LOVE Ikea!
I’ve been a few times since I got married, in fact we got my dresser there. I have to be careful though, I could go CRAZY at Ikea!
My first trip to Ikea was this past July, and it was slightly overwhelming (in a good way!). Love the butcher block counter top we got there (cheap!), and can’t wait to have it finished to show off.
It’s a good thing IKEA is 90 minutes away from my house. It’s a disease. A good one, but still a *small* problem for me! 😉
This looks so fun! I have to meet some bloggers soon!!!
And, I totally remember my first IKEA trip, I thought I died right then and there. ; )
I am embarassed to say I have never been to Ikea. Can you believe it? Every time I read a post of someone doing awesome at Ikea, I think I must plan a trip!
Can’t wait to see all you finds 🙂

I don’t remember my first trip to Ikea, but I’m sure it was magical and inspiring!
I think my first trip to IKEA was when I was a little kid, and I hated it. But I hated all shopping. It is a miracle that I turned into a shopaholic, but I think it’s b/c my mom is so horrible to shop with.
Looks like a fab time. Nothing is more fun than IKEA with friends. 🙂
My 1st trip was a few years ago with one of my GF we had fun and wish I’d spent more time looking around… because I bought one thing! lol Ikea’s a lot of fun, my son loves going with me so he eat in the cafe 🙂 lol
My first trip to IKEA (pronounced “ee-kay-a” in Europe) was in Hanau, Germany. I can’t believe I had to go all the way to Europe to discover the greatest shopping experience in the world!!! We have IKEA close by (in Austin, TX) but it’s just not the same without the vendors selling fresh flowers and vegetables out front. Love it though!!!

i am so insanely jealous of your entire trip. take me next time!!!!!! it looks like it was a blast!
I unfortunately live about 5 minutes from an Ikea. It causes all kinds of traffic on the weekends. I am not a fan of that but I do love a good Ikea perusing. Like on a Wednesday night right before close when no one is there.
