I highly recommend putting herbs on your deck. It’s so handy to run out and snip some off for dinner.
I don’t know what happened to the mustard leaves. Clearly, they were supposed to be picked a while ago. But, we didn’t pick it and now it’s flowering. They never seemed to be big enough…. oh well. We can still eat the lettuce and chives.
And, this is what I like to call my box of mint. Not really… but it is a flower box full of varieties of mint. For mojitos… or just your general enjoyment. This pineapple mint intrigued me. It smells really great. And, I think a pineapple mint mojito sounds delightful. I’ll let you know when I try it.
And, here’s the lettuce. Which is so yummy. I think I planted it too closely, but it’s still doing well and tastes great. You can see where I snipped some.
And, here are the little garden tags I made for the window boxes. I bought a cheap metal stamping kit at Menards and stamped on these copper tags. My friend, Jen, gave me the tip to always stamp on concrete. This is the biggest trick. Otherwise, it’s pretty simple.

I officially have cilantro jealousy. Ours looks terrible and I was trying to tell myself that it was just the time of year and that it would fill in. But this post burst that bubble. Maybe it not too late to replant? Also next year the lettuce is going in pots where it is more accessible to me and less accessible to rabbits. Your herbs look so good!
If you are handing out mojitos please one this way. I failed miserably last year with lettuce but yours looks great. I always say I am going to try my hand a herbs but never do. Have to share recipes of what you are going to make with them
OOOOHHH I’M SQUEALING WITH DELIGHT AT YOUR GARDEN MARKERS!!!! Where did you find them? I need some of those to add to my collection. 😉 And your herbs look amazing!!! Mine are sort of puttering along.
Everything looks so great! Maybe next year I’ll actually get up the motivation to start some veggies in time for them to grow well. Probably not though. I’ll just live in envy of your perfect harvest, year after year after year after year……
That lettuce looks great, I’ll have to add some to my garden. Love your signs.
You’re so funny. Of course we were all wondering deep down! 🙂
Your herbs and lettuce are looking great. Good idea to put them right on the deck. And those tags – so cute!!
Pineapple mint mojito? Yes, please.
I love how your herbs are just so handy hanging on your deck. I love the cute little display tags for each of them too. Fresh herbs – wow.
I love seeing your garden-y pictures. Oh, how I wish I had lettuce!!!
Those markers are fabulous! And I love the box of lettuce. I’m totally inspired to start my own next year!
They look great! I’m impressed! I’m not a very savory person (meaning I’m not a huge fan of fresh herbs and spices in my food) so I didn’t plant any herbs this year, but I’m reconsidering because it looks so simple!
Your herbs are adorable!
I love your stamped markers – love! In college I drove police cars to the carwash one summer for work, and when it was raining (so carwashes weren’t reasonable) I was in charge of stamping the keys – I never got the hang of it, but you make me want to try again.
This is awesome. We live in a townhouse now, but once we make the movie to a single family, I totally intend to start an herb garden.
I love your deck planters, what a great place for some fresh herbs. Your mint varieties sound delicious, enjoy your mojitos! I must confess that I planted mint this year specifically so I would have it handy for mojitos!
Your Herbs look awesome! Can I say im jealous?? 🙂 We only have some Oregano and Rosemary but I am trying my hardest to keep them strong. With the lack of rain and the intense heat… it’s been hard!
I confess, I do look forward to these ‘green’ posts so much ! You always have the best garden ! I’ll send you my address so you can send me a mojito, mkay ?
Basil and cilantro are my two absolute FAAAAAAVORITE herbs! I could probably just sit and munch on cilantro by itself – I love it that much. I tried to grow some, though, and it didn’t go so well. However, I do have a nice pot of basil growing handily on my kitchen counter. 🙂
Your herbs and your garden looks so beautiful. I love this little stamped signs to show your herbs. A mojito would be good right about now…they are so refreshing.
Looking great! How deep are your boxes that everything is doing so well? My herbs are thriving now that they’re in my raised beds and have a foot+ of root space to use.
I need an herb garden just fot tiny cute stamped signs. and for the mojitos of course. i’d hand over my left foot for a mojito right now. at 8:04 am. Is that wrong?
