It’s hard to believe that gift-giving season is right around the corner.
Stuff I actually love (and think you should add to your Christmas list)
Oh wait. It’s actually not at all surprising – because Henry has been listing everything he wants from Santa and his grandparents. Daily.
The boy doesn’t have a problem coming up with a Christmas list. It’s admirable, really. He’s committed.
But we all have favorite things – even when we pass toddlerhood. That’s why I’m so excited to be sharing my “favorite things” today, in conjunction with a lot of really amazing bloggers. (Check them all out at the bottom of this post.)
Thrifty Decor Chick has long been one of my favorite blogs, so I was very honored when Sarah asked me to part of this series. It’s the perfect way to see what real people love and use. And a great way to build up your own Christmas list.
I wanted to share a few of the things I really use and love. When we downsized to a 320-square-foot apartment, I started thinking a little harder about what needs to take up our space. So here are a few of my true favorite things. These are things I can recommend 100 percent because I already use and love them.

In other words – these are what I would add to my Christmas list, if I were you. There’s a bit of everything here …

It gets cold in the Midwest, which means I need gloves on between November and April. These 180s women’s foundation gloves were given to me last year at a “Favorite Things” party and now they are one of my favorite things, too. I wear them every day in the winter. They look nice, keep my hands warm and allow me to text and Instagram. (Yeah. You know that’s actually the most important feature.)

These Ugg Ainsley Suede Slippers are such a luxury. Because once winter hits, I don’t function without a good pair of slippers. It seems ridiculous to spend this much. But do it anyway. Because they are the warmest, softest, comfiest slippers you’ll ever own. And they come in every color under the sun. (I’m getting light grey this year.)

I’m obviously going with a warm and cozy theme here. This Hudson & Co is such a warm and cozy addition to my fall and winter wardrobe. The price is so right (less than $7 right now) and it’s really large and soft. My friend Brittany from Hudson & Co originally alerted me to this deal, and the colors are unique and go with almost everything!
Truly – you need to add this to your Christmas list. I’m going back for more colors.

The year 2015 was the year of the book for me. I love to read and finally made it a priority this year. Out of the 60+ books I’ve finished since January, I’m picking The Secret Keeper as my favorite. Can I be honest? I hate the cover and almost didn’t pick it up because it looked lame. But it’s so good and I’m so glad I opened the cover. This is an incredible piece of historical fiction – it’s full of characters you feel like you know. A must-read, in my opinion.

Ryan bought me a monogram necklace like this for my 30th birthday and I wear it almost every day. It’s simple and dainty but really personal. And I get asked about it everywhere I go.

I strongly believe that Fiesta dinnerware is the best you can get. Anywhere. My grandmother had Fiestaware and I have Fiestaware. Enough said. I cannot get enough of the colors and it’s so durable. (I’ve dropped more than a few pieces with no issues.) I love the Fiesta 4-piece dinnerware in a variety of colors. (We have them in white, scarlet, tangerine, cobalt, peacock, shamrock and sunflower). They are the perfect everyday dishes.

I’ve always had sensitive skin, and this Youngblood loose mineral foundation helps me manage it. I have tried almost every type of foundation available for acne-prone skin and I swear by this. It’s easy to apply, covers well, and my face has never been healthier. (Good bye, adult breakouts. I don’t miss you at all.)

I get questions every single day about the Silhouette. The bottom line – I use this puppy at least 3-5 times a week. I believe it’s every penny and can be use for so many crafty endeavors. Not a single holiday, event or celebration goes by without using my Silhouette.
I have the Silhouette Portrait, which is a great machine to start out. At less than $150, it’s a great way to cut vinyl, heat transfer, paper and more. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the CAMEO, but it does everything I’ve ever needed to do. I also like that it has a smaller footprint and is easy to tote around. (Pssst: Watch these links on Black Friday. There have been some killer deals in the past.)
I hope you enjoyed reading about a few of my favorite things! I tried to really think about the stuff I really adore, and I hope you find some favorites, too.

Now, check out the favorite things of some other wonderful bloggers …

60+ books!!!! That’s impressive and I guess I should add the keeper to my list but I haven’t found any time to read lately. At all!!!
I couldn’t believe it when I added them up. It’s definitely the most I’ve read in a year. And while I’ve been busy, I’ve just prioritized it over things like cleaning and laundry. 😉 Ha.
I’m totally crushing on that scarf! I have a bit of thing for scarves and for plaid right now, so that one fits the bit! I hear you on the Silhouette – I love mine! Great list!
Hi! I loved your list–I’ve had Kate Morton books on my to be read list, but I haven’t picked it up yet. You mentioned that you have read over 60 books this year…I couldn’t find a post listing them. I would love to hear your favorites! Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving! -Leslie
I post and try to rate them all on Goodreads, if you are interested. https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/1340051-kim
I love scarves but always have difficulty knowing how to wear them would love to see someone discuss this topic with pictures for those of us with interest but novice skills.
I usually wear mine the same old way, but I’ve found some great tips on Pinterest for new ways to wear scarves.
Love your ideas!!!
xo,
Sam
Oh wow, Kim! You’ve put together such an awesome list. Five items are going straight to my wish list! I’ll be checking the deals for the Silhouette for sure. Thanks!
Wow I love your list and I will be checking for the Silhouette Portrait, on black Friday or Cyber Monday. Glad you commented on the book cover lol I would have passed on it too, I love a good read and am going to put it in my stocking.
It’s a good one – definitely don’t judge this book by its cover.
Watch Silhouette’s store, too. They are saying there will be a machine for $99.
I’ve been eyeing those Ugg slippers for a couple years. I’ve been wearing my Ugg boots as slippers for a few years but sometimes they get a little toasty so those slippers might make their way onto my list this year.
They really are so comfy. I always ask for a pair for Christmas because I use an abuse those puppies.
Love your list – I’ve added a couple of items from it to my own. Thanks for sharing!
Yeeesssssss to The Secret Keeper. So so good. And I love the monogram necklace! I love that it’s not too huge. I’ve seen some that are BIG that I haven’t liked as much, but that one looks perfect.
I think I read The Secret Keeper because of you.
I love my blanket scarf SO far only for decor in the house… it’s SO hot!! But I will probably really use the crap out of it in the winter. I also get comments on my monogram necklace all the time. I love it, it’s also great for layering
Oooh, I love the monogram necklace – such a classic! Fun to meet you through the blog hop, Kim! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Oh such a good list! And ditto on the cozy slippers…I’m addicted to Muk Luks and just scored a cute new pair at TJ Maxx! 🙂
They are a must!
Great list! Let’s just talk Kate Morton for a second. I love her books and The Secret Keeper was fantastic! Have you read The House at Riverton? I want her latest book The Lake House, it came out this October. I think I might buy it for myself for Christmas!
I haven’t read her others, but they are all on my list. I have a wish list to my library’s e-book system and I just read them as they come available. I think I’m next in line for The Lake House.
I’m so glad you love your scarf! I keep using it for decor purposes, and then when I’m heading out the door I’ll grab it to throw on. It’s so multi functional! lol Also, I started making an actual list out last year and I felt kind of bratty about it at first, but then I thought hey-better to give Justin-I mean Santa an idea rather than him trying to read my mind. :p Oh and I want the Silhouette so bad.
I totally meant to mention in the post that you shared this scarf deal with me. I just edited.
I typically make a list, too. It’s easier than being disappointed when you don’t get what you want. 😉
