The Smile File

July 9, 2009 by Kim Woodward

It’s been awhile since the last Smile File (I know, you have had many sleepless nights).

Here we go –

  • Cooler weather – I’m tired of the heat. Don’t flame me, but today’s temps in the 60s made me long for fall.
  • S’mores and friends.

  • These little houses from tinyhouseblog.com – it actually makes Ryan’s crazy obsession with little houses seem doable. I can actually kinda imagine living in the country. (kinda)

  • Our new under-cabinet radio in the kitchen. You should see me dancing around and singing when I’m cooking (or perhaps you shouldn’t).
  • Spending a day with the husband while listening to excellent blues.
  • This song. The beat, the harmonies, I could listen over and over… and I may do that.

What makes you smile today?

I too love Tiny House blog and featured it on my blog! Yeah! It’s good to see someone else is interested in small homes…but the jury is still out about me living in a home less than 800 square feet.

    🙂

  • Ryan will finally be home for a while beginning this weekend. Living without a husband for 8 of the past 9 weeks stinks. I’ve gotten pretty used to talking to the dogs like they are human.
  • I have a clean house. It’s been going to the dogs… literally. Between the garden, class and life – the house needed a good cleaning.
  • I’m on week three of partial cash spending and it’s pretty empowering. I have the money in my purse and if it’s not there, I cannot buy it. It’s going well.
  • I made brownies.
Life is good.
What makes you smile this week?

I hate cleaning, but nothing puts me more at ease than having a clean house. Good for you!

The smile file

April 3, 2009 by Kim Woodward

Time for another installment of:

The premise is this – there are many things in my life that make me inadvertently smile. This is a place to capture those moments, so when I’m feeling down (you know those days), I can remember all of the things to be thankful for.

Smiles:
  • Winning free tickets to New Kids on the Block… on the day of the concert. And going to the concert with one of my favorite people, Rebecca. We laughed so much, we almost cried. We screamed, we danced and we had a ball. True, we probably wouldn’t have bought the tickets on our own (we were a little too young to fully understand the craze). True, we were probably the first people to leave the concert (it was late, and they already played “The Right Stuff”). But, it was a memorable night with many many smiles.

  • These signs from the Lawn & Garden Show. These actually made me do more than smile. I laughed so loudly that everyone around me turned to look… then promptly started laughing as well.

  • These eggs, from Fly Through my Window. I’m currently trying to recreate this in my window.
  • Snuggling with these little demons when Ryan is away. And looking at this photo of them in their 4th of July outfits.

What’s making you smile today?

Kim – Great post. Your reminder to celebrate the little things in life is appreciated.

I didn’t know you and Rebecca went to see NKOTB! How’d you win the tickets?

Finally, check out this blog …
http://allisonandjared.blogspot.comMy cousin is the writer, and somethings she says remind me of you!

    Happy weekend! – K.

HA, the signs are GREAT! Love the egg idea and your dogs are adorable.

LOL on the dogs. They’re cute. Sophia doesn’t do dress up, but Lady doesn’t care. Einstein isn’t too fond of it either. He had fleas when we got him and between the bites, and a flea bath his behind was so itchy he was making himself bleed. So we had to put shorts on him to keep him from licking off the Neosporin we put on to help him heal faster.

Pug photos always make me smile. =)

But, I’m still cheesin’ over FINALLY fulfilling my 10-year-old dream of seeing NKOTB…even if it was ahem, twenty years later. =) Two of my BFFs from the sixth grade attended with me last night and we had a blast! And we all thought we were out super late but when I checked my cell phone to see what time I called home after walking out of the concert it was truly only 10:30. I am getting old. =)

Those sprouting eggs are darling. They and your patriotic pooches are what’s making me smile today!

I have this sudden urge to light some sparklers and participate in a parade……
