Renovation progress report – week 10

October 14, 2010 by Kim Woodward

Is it just me, or is time just flying by?

This week, Ryan finished up the forms for the garage slab to be poured. The forms passed inspection, which is always a relief. (Can I get an ‘amen’ from my renovating sistas?)

My brother Kyle came over for comedic relief… I mean, to help.

Here’s Kyle posing with the saw. I hope he doesn’t use it this way.

As you can see behind Kyle, I’ve gotten exactly nothing more painted on the foundation. Go, me. I should be up for some sort of award.

While I haven’t worked, I was inspired by a bathroom at a new store that is based in a historic home.

I just love it – the white subway tile with the black accents, the chrome, the pedestal, the mirror, the wall color… Check out my other favorite bathrooms here.

And, check out the white trim with the stained door. Just lovely.

Dreamy.

Someday I hope our bathroom is as inspiring. At the least, I hope someday soon we have a bathroom with a working toilet. 😉

But Ryan has been working hard to make the bathroom a reality. In addition to finishing the forms, he also finished installing the drain and venting it out the roof. That was quite a job. One that required rewiring the entire first floor of the house.

Now, we just need to cross all fingers and toes that it passes inspection. Before inspection, though, Ryan has to finish up a few other things. Wish us luck.

Coming soon: This weekend will be time for pouring concrete. Then, up goes the garage.

Not a ton of exciting news (and few photos) on the home front, but believe you me, it’s coming.

No big changes on the master house list.

Things are really starting to move along now. I have to say though, I am pretty excited that the foundation isn’t finished yet; makes me feel better! LMAO!

That bathroom is beautiful. I think it would fit your aesthetic beautifully.

Another busy week! I bet the inspector’s report was a relief. And I am loving the bathroom…the tile and the door are so fab!

But of course running water is nice too….

That bathroom is phenomenal. Like, I want to go tear out my builder-grade beige everything and install it right now. But Mr. B and I aren’t quite Ryan and Kim in handiness standards, so I’ll restrain myself.

You home is going to be so beautiful.

Wowser….that Ryan…he’s a dynamo. You make a great pair!! Thank you for posting a photo of white trim with stained wood next to it….I’m having a dilemna at my house and that just answered it!

I love the painted trim with the door! I love the square pedestal sinks but they aren’t practical (for me) in master baths, since there is no storage or edge space.

I love those bathroom tiles! I already have white tiles like that in my bathroom… I wonder if I could remove a row and add some accent tiles like that… without breaking any tiles I want to keep… doubtful! It looks like you guys are making incredible progress – great job!
    PS- I’m loving Ryan’s Phi-Esta Bowl shirt. 🙂

Amen and amen on the form inspection!! Inspection day always terrifies me. What if they want us to tear it all out? (Our form inspector did. Nick talked him out of it.) Congrats on a pass!! And happy concrete pouring this weekend.

PS The bathroom is GORGEOUS. Love love love.
