Organization Station: Planner

March 10, 2009 by Kim Woodward

Do you carry a pocket planner?

I never did before 2009. Then, I met this lovely lady:

The Moleskine Weekly Planner + Notebook.

This little beauty packs a big punch, in a tiny little shell that fits in any purse I carry.
Here is why it’s brilliant:
  • The weekly pages give me space to write in appointments, plans, etc. I use this for non-work scheduling because I have a planner at work with larger spaces for day-to-day work. The small spaces allotted for the days are the perfect size and make it easy to plan ahead for planning weekend trips, scheduling appointments and keeping tabs on what’s coming up.
  • The right side of each week is a lined page. This is perfect for notes. It’s become the perfect vehicle for me to track purchases for budgeting.
  • There is a ribbon page marker to find your current page.
  • The book has an elastic band to keep it closed, which is a God-send in my purse.
  • The planner even includes reference calendar through 2012, which is really useful to look ahead.
  • A small expandable pocket in the back holds a small notebook and is also the perfect size for notes and receipts.
I’ve had it for two months now, and it’s just a wonderful little tool to keep my life organized. While most of you probably already have a planner, if you don’t, you should definitely try this little gem.
Do you carry a planner? How do you keep your schedule outside of work organized?

Your post inspired me to put my pocket calendar IN my purse… where it is MUCH more useful. I’ve used it about 5 times now and each time think… thank you Kim! 🙂

I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE the moleskin planners…. but I found a new love this year it’s by the makers of WhoMii and it’s at the container store – a great place to find planners believe it or not.

My planner is my brain, if i were to lose it I wouldn’t know what to do with my life for the next year.

Yikes! I’m the only one not using a planner! I use a monthly one at work, and have a monthly calander on my fridge that keeps track of important things, like doctors appointments, but that’s it. This one sounds GREAT though, it might get me into planning! I’m always thinking of things I need during the week, then never end up getting them when I go to the store — the note section seems like it would solve that problem.

I would die without my planner. I started scheduling time for workouts in there too so that way I keep that time open and make sure I get my butt to the gym.

I am a planner. I need to get something like this, especially one that has pockets to put my coupons in.

Yes! I am obsessed with keeping a calendar or planner. I’ve tried the little ones but I find that the larger ones work best for me.

I live by a planner…mine is big and bulky though. I need something slinder, but I feel if I dont’ write things down I will never get them finished! It will really keep you on track. I even write my menu planning in mine!

I’m obsessed with planners! Not only do I use the planner on my phone, but I also have a pocket planner in my purse. 🙂
