Living room revamp

June 11, 2009 by Kim Woodward

Time for room number two in our little Home-A-Palooza.

I know, you are breathless in anticipation.
It’s time for the Living Room.

The carpet was so nasty. So, Ryan ripped it up the first day. And, lo and behold – (dirty and paint-filled) pine hardwood floors.

(Insert happy dance for hardwood floors.)
After some time spent painting, cleaning, refinishing woodwork, inserting quarter round, re-doing windows.
A better shot of the floors. They are awesome and I love them.
The first after:
And the living room now.

(I don’t call it “after” cause I still got a few tricks up my sleeve.)
Pretty big change, right?

Oh, Kim! First of all, your living room makeover is amazing! Those floors are spectacular and I just love how you pulled the room together. It’s so cozy, warm, and inviting now! And that piece you created from the old window – just beautiful! That is a great idea and what a charming personal touch! Thank you so much for sharing this with me!

Does “Franco the Maitre De” take care of all the seating in the new dining room?

So, so fantastic — especially the floors! I can’t believe you and Ryan did all the work yourselves!

Yay for those stunning hardwoods! *giggle, snort* That’s what she said…..

What a find! All we had under our carpet was a nasty plywood subfloor w/ pee stains.

I love the pops of crimson those drapes add. Really pulls the whole room together!

Your “before” floors look just like the ones on our 2nd floor do now! I hope ours come out as nice as yours have.

    Great job!

Mrs. McB: The Woodwards photo was an original picture window from the house. I just had a vinyl piece made custom for the size. =)I love it.

Emily – no progress on either front, as of yet. But, I did casually mention crown moulding the other day and Ryan didn’t freak out, so it’s on to Phase 2.
