Little vinyl barn quilts on the patio

July 7, 2014 by Kim Woodward

I simply cannot get enough barn quilts in my life.

After creating the large version for our barn, I set my sights on creating some small versions for our patio. This time, I used vinyl and it made the process ridiculously easy and quick.

For the background, I used 12×12 boards I had in the garage and painted them in white (Behr Ultra Premium White) and gray (Behr Dolphin Fin). These boards have been waiting for a new life since 2009 – when I used them to make advent calendars and picture frames.  I think they are now perfect as accents beside the windows on our patio. The black and red is perfect!Barn Quilt Vinyl Kim Woodward10

(Oh! And did you notice that we also have a working outdoor barn light now? Progress, my friends.)

Thanks so much, Denise. I’m really happy with how it’s coming along. We can’t wait to get out there permanently.

Too cute! Did you come up with the quilt blocks yourself or do they have quaint old fashioned names (like Wedding Ring and Grandmother’s Flower Basket… my two favorite quilts)?

You know, they weren’t named in the program, but I spy bear claw and the Ohio Star (I think).

I have to restrain myself from covering every surface in barn quilts. 😉

Thanks, Julia! I had to keep myself from making more – no place to put them. But, I just love the patterns.

Kim as much as I love quilts and their patterns I did spy that little light first – hello beauty! It all looks great.

Thanks! It was actually intended to be our bathroom light but the “arm” is too high. It’s perfect here.

This is awesome Kim. What a great way to translate quilts to outdoor decor. It almost has a nautical feel too 🙂

You are right – I think that the right colors would really make it feel beachy.

We were in farm country all weekend and every time I saw a barn quilt, I thought of you! I love these mini versions. I think it’s fair to say you have the most stylish barn deck of all time.
