The last winter

January 18, 2011 by Kim Woodward

It’s kind of bittersweet to think that this will be probably be the last winter in our first home.
I’m really excited to move. But I’m also a little sad about leaving. I love the house in the winter. And in the summer, spring and fall.
But, with each end is a new beginning. Right?
(And, no. I haven’t removed any of the Christmas decorations from outside. It’s too darn cold and I like the garland with the snow. Sue me. I promise to take it down before August. Possibly.)

i’m glad i’m not the only one with christmas greeny outside.

i need to get on that. but digging through snow in freezing temperatures isn’t appealing to me. yuck.

It is very bittersweet! Your house looks so pretty in the winter with all the snow.

The garland; the buckets. I die. SO CUTE! You’ll make lots of new memories in the new house too! But if you don’t reuse those buckets can you ship them up my way? 🙂

Your house (and xmas decor) looks great in snow. It is hard to leave something you love but on to bigger and better!

I don’t blame you. The garland on the fence is so pretty!!! 🙂 Just think of the winter memories you’ll have in the new house. 🙂

Your house is so so pretty in the snow! I wouldn’t take down the garland or lights until it’s warmer, either. I love garland & lights in the snow… even if Christmas is over.

Girl, I know how you feel. Once JEGs and I decided to start house hunting, I got all sentimental about this apartment.

I know it’s just an apartment, but it was our first home together. *sigh*

I agree… since Illinois is now part of the Artic Circle, I would wait till the spring thaw to take down any out decor 😉

I think I would leave that garland forever, it’s so fab. 🙂 I know what you mean about being sad to leave a house – even if you’re moving on to something wonderful you’re still leaving great memories behind. Maybe take a few hours to snap pictures of every corner and make a little book on Snapfish or Blurb to remember your house by?

Your house is my house’s role model. Like my house posted a picture of yours on it’s fridge to inspire it. and on the ceiling above it’s bed so it’s the last thing my house sees before falling asleep.

Wait, my house sounds creepy. It’s not, swears. It just loves your red door, garland and red buckets.

I love the garland I would have left it up as well.

Wait we still have our Christmas light up – dang better ge on it.

It makes me all teary thinking of leaving bungalow one day, but then like you said every end starts a new begining. Lets be honest I need more space for gardens and chickens anyway :+)

Your house is so dang cute all year long! I love it – and the next house will be just as wonderful when you’re done working your magic!

Your house looks gorgeous in the snow! I would be sad to leave it behind, too. BUT your new house is going to be a show stopper when you all are done, it’ll be hard not to be excited to move in when it’s time.
