It’s not too late …

October 9, 2012 by Kim Woodward

to join us for the sign-making workshop on Thursday. I’ve been thrilled with the response so far and so thankful to all of you who are coming and who donated. As a reminder, this event is in support of Dress for Success Quad Cities, and 100 percent of donations go to the organization, which empowers women to make a better life for themselves and their families.

A special thanks to Jen at Onion Grove Mercantile and Cathy at Miss Effie’s for helping me spread the word.

And thanks to Jen for putting together a few of the most wonderful sign designs specially for the event. Here’s a peak.

I love that there are options that are super simple and some that are a little more advanced. I cannot possibly decide which one I should choose.

Last weekend consisted of me trying to get through all my lists for the event. Grocery-listing, supply shopping, decor-making … In between errand-running, I managed to put together a few things for Thursday.

Thank goodness for a super low-key baby. Henry came with me to all the stores and helped me with my projects at home. And as a result of my lists, my kitchen and dining room are truly in shambles. Tubs of decor and party supplies everywhere. Ingredients for the menu out on the counter. This actually looks better than it appears in real life.

Luckily, this isn’t happening AT my house. Because then I’d be a basket case. I actually planned to host it here, but then I had a big dream to get more people at come. And my house definitely won’t be big enough for 30-40 women painting signs.

I’m so happy that I “dreamed big” for this event. (And not just because I don’t want to clean my bathroom.) Dress for Success is a really important organization and one that I think many women can connect to in some way. If you are interested in donating to this organization, which empowers women to dream big and better their own lives, do it right here. (As an added incentive, every person who donates will be entered in a drawing for a $250 Dress Barn gift card.)

Check out more information about the workshop here.

Now, I’m back to the list …

You’ve been busy!!! I can’t wait to help decorate. It’ll be like the last episode of Design Star where you’re the designer going to win and I’m that sad contestant that got kicked out but super pumped to help you beat the annoying contestant that no one else wants to win.

Your kitchen still looks really happy. And kind of like mine. My tea kettle is on top of my toaster next to me on the table. Oh, the life of a DIYer.
