In bloom!

April 27, 2009 by Kim Woodward

This weekend – we had the chance to admire some lovely blooms in our area. Kinda like stopping a smelling the roses.
Ryan’s grandma has two fabulous Magnolia trees. I love them. But, boy – are they messy!

My aunt also has a lovely blooming tree – an ornamental plum.

And about a thousand lovely, blooming tulips and daffodils. Lord have mercy, they are beautiful.

(Note to Kim: Don’t forget to plant tulip bulbs in the fall this year. Otherwise, you will be disappointed in yourself when everyone’s tulips are emerging and looking divine.)

Are you stopping to notice all the lovely blooms in your area? What are your favorites?

I love Magnolia trees and dogwood. I really like flowering trees because I feel like you get more visual impact for a lot less work (and money of the years).

I totally love all of the spring flowers and was super proud of myself for getting my bulbs into the ground last autumn (for the first time ever). My queen-of-the-night tulips are looking lovely right now and my pansies are waking up too. I even have some short red tulips in a pot in the back that have come up – bulbs that I hadn’t planted in autumn but kept in the cellar that had started sprouting. I planted them and 3 out of the 5 have flowered :o) Tulips are my favourite!
