If you don’t live in the Midwest, you may not be able to imagine the expansiveness of the sky or the white of the clouds…
or the simple beauty of hay bales dotting the fields…
or the rolling hills…
or the perfect blue of the sky.
You may have never seen a covered bridge in Madison County.
Last weekend, driving down I-80 and I-35 in Iowa and Kansas reminded me why I love and live in the Midwest. It’s truly breathtaking.
Why do you love where you live?

I was catching up on reading blogs today… and OMG this post made me miss ‘home’! The south is nice, but I LOVE the midwest. Love the pics! Now I’ll be dreaming of Lincoln all day. 🙂
so pretty, love the covered bridges. I love living in Cali, the weather is pretty and only rains a few months out the year. I love that we live in a city with lots of trees and that were a few hours away from the ocean.
Beautiful photos!!
I sure do love where live;) I’m from Delaware and we may be flat but we have pretty blue skies, beaches and farmland. And nearby, is PA, where it looks very similar to your midwest photos. I am also married to a dear man from Iowa. Love the pictures. Reminds me of our time in MO and Iowa.
cuz i live on a tropical island!! 🙂
WOW……………you really captured it! Great job!
WOW……………you really captured it! Great job!
Beautiful pictures! So glad to call Iowa home.
We moved into our house because of the view of the beautiful Mississippi! Yet sometimes we forget how lucky we are and get annoyed at other drivers driving slowly in front of us in order to enjoy the view of the majestic Mississippi! It has been fun for our kids too with boats and trains to watch daily!
Beautiful pictures. I love round bales in a field… I don’t know what it is about that sight, but I love it! Thanks for sharing!
Amen.
Stunning photos. The landscape is just beautiful. It reminds me of New England in some ways [like the covered Bridge and the hills].
We currently live in Florida. Northwest Florida to be exact. It’s not that bad in sense that we do have a variety of trees and plants [Florida in general is notorious for just having ugly pine trees but living in the northern part we lucked out!]. We don’t live far from the beach so in a sense it’s like your rolling hills that go on for miles and miles. For us it’s sitting on a white sandy beach, listening to the waves and looking at into the Gulf at the endless blue water.
How beautiful! Never been, but those are some great landscapes!
Beautiful Photos! I have never been to the midwest, but I would love to get there at some point.
Just splendid pictures!
So beautiful! I certainly don’t see that driving on the New Jersey Turnpike!
Wow!! Those photos are breathtaking. Such a beautiful skyline, especially since it’s cloudy and rainy here in VA today. 🙂
Beautiful pictures! I’ve never visited the mid west but if I ever do, I’ll go this time of year. Truly breathtaking! Home for me is the south. I am a southerner through and through. I grew up in Middle TN and am currently living in East TN. The best thing about TN is the variety of landscape in one state. East TN is the mountain area then you move into Middle TN so you get more of the softer terrain and rolling hills then you move into West TN and it’s flat farmland. I’m very comforted in seeing the mountains around me…I lived in Florida for a few years and as much as I love the beach and the ocean, I longed for the mountain backdrop.
as boring as the midwest can be it is simply beautiful!
beautiful
Like Breanne, I live in Michigan so we do see a lot of trees, trees, and more trees. But added to that we have a ton of lakes and rivers. I think the stat is that in Michigan you cannot go more than 5 miles in any direction without hitting a body of water and it’s so true.
Beautiful pictures. We do have some gorgeous blues, greens, and even browns.
I’ve lived in a lot of places, even Europe … but the midwest will always be home to me, always the place I love best. And these pictures perfectly represent why. 🙂
I was born and raised in Ohio, unfortunately I don’t love where I live right now. Because of the military they have sent us to the desert of California. Granted, I’m surrounded by beautiful landscapes of mountains and sand, but the heat is not my friend.
Your pictures are beautiful!!
Great pictures! When I lived in new england it was fun to see the old historical churches and houses around town, best when they were decorated for Christmas. Living in the DC area I think it’s cool to run errands and see the memorials/capital in the distance.
Gorgeous photos! I live in the midwest, but I think it’s a bit of a different version from yours! Here in MI we have trees trees trees! I love it, it’s so wild!
Very beautiful photos… its funny how photos of the south are so similar I would have sworn those photos were taken here in Texas.
so pretty!!
I live in the South now but grew up in the Midwest. It will always be home to me.
Yay for the midwest! 🙂 The greens and blues in your pics are so pretty. And the people/pace of life here is awesome. 🙂
wow. it’s beautiful. love the pic with the hay bails. the furthest west i’ve ever been is Ohio. isn’t that sad. 🙁 i’m afraid if i visit the west i’ll never want to come back home.
I think so many of us mid-westerners over look the beauty of our region. Thanks for making me remember why I love it!
