I ‘sink’ I love it

June 3, 2010 by Kim Woodward

It takes a lot to make some girls happy. Me? Just a sink. Hubby found a very vague Craig’s List listing that made him think of me (isn’t he a girl’s dream).

The listing said: Used white porcelain farmhouse sink with fixtures. Please email or call if interested.

And, I was interested, friends. Because a lot of those inspiration kitchens had a farmhouse sink. So, I emailed. But, I was a little skeptical. Because, really, it could have just been a sink that was originally in a farmhouse, and not an actual farmhouse sink.

And, by golly, when I got there, it was a real farmhouse sink. And while originally I was planning to buy a sink with only one basin, I was too excited to pass this up for $50. Even the farmhouse sink at Ikea was $200 and I don’t think it was as nice.

The sink’s several years old, and the seller upgraded to a granite farmhouse sink. So, I forked over the cash and ran out before the seller could change her mind.

It was mounted under her counters in her kitchen, but I can easily get that caulk off. And, I’ll quickly change those white and brass fixtures. Otherwise, it’s in pretty great shape. Relatively clean. No scratches. It’s a Kohler brand, which is a good brand. And, it’s darn heavy. (Which I hope explains why this is the only photo you’ll get until it’s in the house. It wasn’t moving.)

Go us!

Now, we just need a kitchen.

Do you love it as much as I do?

I absolutely love it as much as you do! I really want one of those in my kitchen. I think I called them “apron” sinks, but it’s good to know “farmhouse” is what they’re really called.
