There isn’t much better in a yard than a fresh layer of mulch.
Can you believe that our yard takes 30 bags of mulch? That’s a ton of mulch. Okay, not literally a ton. But, it is quite a workout for the wife to put it down. And that wife may not have been able to move the next morning. But, totally worth it.
And, how much do you love these purple irises? If you don’t love them, I don’t think we can be friends. Harsh? Perhaps. But, necessary.
Knock, knock, spring. I love you.

Well, bag me up & spread me out (all over your lawn, that is) b/c I LOVE the look & smell of new mulch. <----- this comment was made sober, believe it or not.
Hi Kim! Just saw your link on someone else’s blog and clicked over. I read a bunch of your past posts, and you make me laugh, so I’m following. Your house has taken an amazing journey – we bought a foreclosure in 2008 and people gave us the crazy looks, too. 🙂
Love the landscaping and I can almost smell that woody smell from here! And the irises are so pretty….mine seem to be missing flowers so I am just going to live vicariously through yours!
I’ve decided that I need to steal your house and yard. You can still make it look pretty for me 🙂 ha.
Everything always looks great.
How do you get so much done? It looks great.
i love the irises.. i really do!
Mulch is a serious job. Love your yard, K. : )
Okay, so you live an hour from me right? How did you get your irises to pop already!!?? Lucky girl…they’re beautiful! I’m SOO on board with the mulch, it looks great! And the rain barrel-downspout diverter thingy…I just ordered some! Do you have a regular downspout to attach to the bottom in the winter?
Right there with you about fresh mulch! Love it! Your flower garden is beautiful! Purple Irises 🙂
Love the look of fresh mulch AND the irises. 😉 It takes T two truckloads of mulch to get our yard fresh. He goes somewhere local and they load up his pickup for him….
I weeded, edged and mulched at my in-laws’ all day last Saturday. (My hubby’s sister is getting married there next month, so we’re deep in wedding prep fun!) Anyway mulching is a pain but SO worth it.
And irises happen to be my favoritest flower. Closely followed by the peony… But still, irises all the way! Yours are beautiful. I’m jealous.
Seriously, your mom? Adorbs. I love moms. Anyway, i also love mulch. Fresh mulch. It makes everything look so nice and tidy.
it’s beautiful! Nice work!
I can smell it all the way over the computer. You are right, fresh mulch and spring go together like bread and butter. Your Iris are GORGEOUS. And I love the red can on the corner. It brings it all together. Why do I get so excited every time I see something new in your yard? I should be used to it by now. BEAUTIFUL, simply beautiful!
