Happy Birthday to my Husband

October 12, 2009 by Kim Woodward

Dear Husband:
I know you aren’t really “into” your birthday.
Like… you wouldn’t tell anyone what you wanted. And, you won’t tell us where you want to eat for your birthday. You are just the kind of person that doesn’t want to be the center of attention. Even though you deserve it.
But, fortunately for you… I am into birthdays. Particularly yours. Because I want to make you happy on your special day, because you make me so happy all the time.
So, I made you a cherry pie. With homemade crust. That made you smile. You (heart) cherry pie.
(Crust recipe here.)
Then, I went ahead and got you a few things. And, I made you open them the night before because your birthday because I wanted to you have your new things BEFORE your birthday. (You’re welcome.)

I think you were actually excited. Just probably not as excited as me.

I love to give gifts. Especially to you. Because you hold up every item so I can take a picture. You told me you felt like you were being stalked by the paparazzi.I know you love the Bears. And every time you opened a gift, you said, “Da Bears” or “Dit-ka.” I think that’s a good sign.

And, because we are such romantics, I got you this card.

We both laughed about it.

I’ll make cherry pies forever for you. I will celebrate every one of your birthdays until you are 127.

Happy 27th. I love you.

Kim

I don’t know if it’s my glass of vino (it’s always nearby) or your sweet words or da Bears paraphernalia, but I got a little weepy reading this.

    Happy Birthday, Ryan!!!!

(If there’s any cherry pie left over, please send it my way.)

    Happy Birthday, Ryan!
Great stuff, Kim! Cute post, too.
P.S. – isn’t it super creepy the way I speak to you like I actually know you? don’t be afraid. I live far away.

    Kim,
We love birthday pies at our house too! (My husband hates cake. We even had pies at our wedding).

Looks like a great birthday celebration.
