Gift guide for pets

November 20, 2009 by Kim Woodward

I’m looking out for you, friends. Christmas is nearing. Franco and Lola sent off their gift lists to Santa and I took a sneak peek before they headed off to the North Pole. (Little does Franco know, Santa already knows how naughty he’s been. Only coal for him this year.)

So, I’m sharing wishlists with you. There are dogs in Africa starving right now. They would kill for a treat. But, not our spoiled rotten dogs. They live in luxury and their wish lists reveal this. These are ideas for the dogs who have everything…

Personalized driver’s license for a dog
(If he gets pulled over for going 50 in a 20, he’ll be prepared.)

Reindeer gear
(No holiday is complete without total canine humiliation.)

Doggie treadmill
(I don’t even know what to say about this….)

Dog wine
(From the most exclusive vineyards in Barksville, this is perfect for dogs who delight in the finer things.)
LA dog lounger
(And, after finishing off that bottle of dog wine in one sitting, the dog will need a place to pass out.)
Forgive me… I’m trying to contain my laughter at imagining our pugs on a treadmill.

Since there isn’t a sarcasm font (unfortunately), I should tell you that the dogs are probably not going to be enjoying any of these gifts. These pet items just cracked me up and I had to share.

(Although, I am seriously considering getting those antlers for good measure.)

Forget the dog. What about an FC Lounger for when FC has too much wine in one sitting?

Seriously considering getting the doggie license tags. OMG, so adorable!

Oh no. We are one of those dog owners who puts the antlers on our doxie every year for holiday pictures.

He does like wearing the bun and mustard at Halloween though…

    An ID…hmm…

I have to say….that looks like a fox terrier on the treadmill. I’m totally NOT surprised! After lots of reading on how much energy these guys have and the exercise they adore…we considered it. Seriously, Jasper can walk for 2 hours straight and still be ready to go! We opted to get a human treadmill for Mommy’s birthday and Jasper LOVES to walk on it too!

I wish I was made of money because those driver license ID tags are so funny! If they were cheaper I would totally buy one for each of my dogs!

I love Allison and Jared’s idea though. Our dogs were adopted too and a donation to the shelter is a wonderful thing to do.

My poor cat. His birthday falls right after Christmas, so um…he gets nothing. For either. We suck as pet parents. However, as soon as you can find a cat-size white apron and chef hat, I’d be all over it. I have this vision of my cat as a pizza chef…delivering piping hot pizzas to me on the couch. I figure the first thing I need is the outfit if this plan is going to work.

Is it obvious that it’s 4:30 on a Friday and I want to leave work so bad I can taste it and that I’m completely delirious?

haha too funny… George will probably get a donation to the local dog shelter for Christmas since he was adopted 🙂

Dying laughing at the treadmill! We always wonder what it would be like if our dog jumped on with one of us while we are running…

You know what’s way less expensive than a dog treadmill? Going outside with dogs for a walk. Better for the dog owner, too. The fact that there’s enough of a market to even put this out there makes me sad.
