Garden-palooza

April 2, 2009 by Kim Woodward

In addition to the container class, I also had the chance to go to the local Lawn & Garden Show last weekend. I have gone the past few years, and I always enjoy it. This year was no exception.

There were lots of bright colors – which were a big change from the snow outside.
I just adore tulips. I wish I would have got my act together last fall to plant some in our yard…
There were also some tropical plants that caught my eye…
and there was a HUGE waterfall. The photo does it no justice. I cannot imagine how long it took to set this up. They began setting up two weeks ago.
I loved the variety of colors of the flowers. It was fun to see the different types.
And, this was my favorite exhibit – by the University of Illinois Extension – I believe it was by the Master Gardeners.
Perhaps it was the red door and pale blue window boxes …
or the basket of tulips…
or those adorable paving stones…
But, I just fell in love with it. All of it.
After a lot of drooling at the lovely displays, I took home this little fella –

It’s a Venus Fly Trap.
I just love him – he is bad to the bone. I hope I can keep him alive.

Can you come to Nashville and plant and take care of my flowers that I want to plant? 🙂

I should take lessons as I really want to have flowers this summer.

I’m fairly positive I would kill any houseplant that come into my possession. 🙂
