Front porch dreams

August 12, 2009 by Kim Woodward

I really hope that someday we build a front porch on our house. I mentioned it here, and I’m still trying to convince Ryan of the importance of having a place to sip iced tea, read the newspaper and take cover from the rain.

In came my friend Kellie, who put together a few visuals for my dream of a front porch. Now, I’m just plain excited. Thanks so much, Kellie!
Even Ryan admitted that it looks nice. He couldn’t really visualize it before.
We are both really liking the one in the upper right corner. I think I’d like to extend the porch to be the entire width of the house.
I’m already dreaming of a porch swing (maybe like Emily’s) and my mouth is watering for a glass of iced tea.
What do you think?

a porch would be so great! and I’m not sure how this would work with the interior of the house, but putting the door in the center would look great. or put in double front doors?

I agree about extending it the entire width. That was my pick when I saw it on Kellie’s blog too. 🙂

Love your rental house! Can’t wait to see more…. loving the budget tips! 🙂

Another one for top right corner – it will give you room for that porch swing and b/c it’s bigger, you’ll add another living space to your house. So cute. Ahh, I love your house.

I’ll chime in with another vote for the top right visualization. It makes the house so much cuter from the front! Tell Ryan he has to do it now because we’re waiting for the pictures of the transformation. 🙂

you’re exactly right about extending it to the entire width. as i was looking at the visuals, i too liked the one in the upper right the best, but thought it would be even better completely across the front!! when i read further, i found that your thoughts were the same! it would look great……so come on ryan, let’s get going. 🙂

The top right one is perfect, or as you say, the full width. Go for it!
