    I think we do have the same table – I have those chairs sitting in my basement. I think yours is a slightly lighter oak though, which trust me, is a good thing!

    I just spray painted the leaf for coverage with a “Sticks to all” paint. You might prime it first, but I’d definitely do a tinted primer – I painted our kitchen table black over white primer and it was a pain. I think that table would look awesome in black – that was my first choice but we have an awful lot of black and dark furniture, and I thought it might be too much dark.
