Disappointing

January 24, 2011 by Kim Woodward

I guess I really shouldn’t be surprised. When you are a Bears fan, you must realize that disappointment is always right around the corner. (Sad, but true.)

(2007)

The fact that the Bears were ‘this close’ to the Superbowl.
The fact that the loss was to the Packers.
The fact that our quarterback always mysteriously gets hurt when the stakes are high and he’s playing his worst.
The fact that Ryan had to see it all in person in the blistering cold.
Disappointing.

But, I guess it doesn’t take away the fact that the Bears made it this far. Right?

And, Franco, Lola and I did all we could. We gave it a valiant effort with our Bears attire and attention to the game. I gave a lot of very good advice when someone was playing poorly (**cough, cough, Cutler**). If only the players would listen to the couch coach here in central Illinois.

Here’s a shot of the three of us. (We were still hopeful for a win at this point.)

The dogs were happy to be in Bears attire, too. They love the Bears.

Then, it took a turn for the worse.

“Why, mom?” Lola says. “Why must the Bears destroy all our hopes and dreams?”

Try explaining this to Lola. She doesn’t understand.

There’s always next year. Right Bear’s fans?

Who is your pick for the big game?

My from Chicago hubby was super disappointed that his beloved Bears didn’t make it to the Super Bowl. I guess we’ll root for the Packers now.

    Your dog is adorable!!

You know my history with your quarterback, so naturally I was rooting against him. But when they put cute Caleb Hanie in the game? My allegiances changed – he’s a CSU (my rival school) grad, but he’s just so dang cute. And go Colorado kids!

Sorry Kim, but I live about 1.5 hours from Green Bay. We are excited! And there may or may not be a huge teddy bear hanging from my neighbors tree across the street. It’s a “grizzly” scene. Wah-wah.

So who do you root for in the big game? Ideally your Bears would’ve been there, but since they’re not, do you go for the Packers or the Steelers? Personally, I was hoping the Jets would beat the Steelers. I’m going to root for the Packers because there is not a single cell in my body that could root for the Steelers. I’m an Ohio girl!

Well at least the Bear’s third string QB brought some heat against the Pack in the last part of the game – it finally started getting interesting, we were all thinking the game would be a shutout! ha

You have to admit Rodgers is SO GOOD at being a quarterback.

hahaha! Was that cheerleading outfit really meant for a child? I can’t ever find stuff for Chester- even xl Halloween costumes were too small. Sorry for your loss- that stinks.

I understand the disappointment and won’t insert any jokes about the Bears because I live in MN and hear enough about the Packers from my husband and friends. However, they were all wrong this year and my husband will be wearing a Packers tie at Christmas next year for saying they wouldn’t even make the playoffs! 🙂 Go, Pack, go!

Sorry for your pain….but as my husband is a born and raised Bears fan and we live in Packer country…it was EXTREMELY gratifying to watch his depression progress throughout the game! I’m not even typically a sports fan, but when it’s WI vs IL – go Pack go!

Well, at least Chicago fans are good sports!(We have to be!) I suppose I will cheer for the Steelers… I am also a Bears fan and I don’t want the Packers to win!

Franco & Lola’s outfits are adorable!!!

I feel your pain. My hubs and I are Redskins fans and I’ve had to endure several seasons of him shouting at the TV from the other room. Think of how my O’pa feels…I think he is the ONLY Redskins fan in all of Texas. I don’t think he can even reveal his allegiance or they might string him up. 😉

The pic of the dejected pups is too cute. Since the Cowboys had a ridiculously terrible season I’m finding comfort in the fact that the Super Bowl will be held in Big D. Maybe I’ll see someone famous! Ha!

I thought of Ryan as the game went down the tubes….poor guy, out there in the cold, watching his team flounder. I was rooting for the Bears…I mean really being a Cyclone fan is equivalent to being a Bears’ fan. 😉 It takes courage and dedication to be a football fan that doesn’t see a lot of success. Next year…there’s always next year!

Your team might have put in a third string quarterback, but he played very well. There were a number of times I thought the Bears would pull this out in the end. I, btw, have been a Packer fan since birth – so while my team did win yesterday, it was by no means guaranteed until the very end. Neither team played very well, so until that final interception, it could have gone either way.

I grew up a Bears fan and My husband is a huge Jets fan. Yesterday was not a good day all around. I guess I will be pulling for the Packers, just because I dislike the Steelers more! Hope your husband is warmed up by now! I’m sure it was a cold one in Chicagoland.

Honey, when you are a Philadelphia fan, dissapointment is a seasonal expectation.

    Eagles.
    Phillies.
    Flyers.

At least we know the Sixers will always suck.

What was up with Cutler? Having to go to a 3rd string QB in the division championship game? Crazy. I’ll be pulling for Packers in the super bowl, though, because I want the Steelers to lose.
