A wedding sign

October 23, 2012 by Kim Woodward

Our friends Brad and Jamie got married back in March and had a lovely wedding reception for friends and family over the last weekend. I wanted to give them something homemade as part of the gift. And I was feeling pretty confident in my sign-making abilities from last week’s sign-making workshop. Jen is a pretty good teacher in that way.

While my little sign is nothing compared to Jen’s masterpieces, I was happy with the outcome.

Ryan cut the board for me and I designed something simple in Photoshop Elements. It’s something simple, but I hope it’s something the new Mr. and Mrs. can find a place for in their home.

Oh. And I’m totally going to make one for Ryan and I now. Because that’s what I do – make a gift and decide I also need one for myself.

What do you think?

I’m in the camp where I think homemade wedding gifts are ok but only if they come from people who are actually talented. You know, like yourself. And not like, you know, me. This sign looks just fantastic and I’m sure they loved it.

I think you did a great. Such a nice gift. I know NC is far from you, but I am giving away two-nights at a luxury hotel in Charlotte, NC if you have any NC friends or want to try to visit my state.

Aw! I would have loved this as a wedding gift. Personalized and thoughtful gifts are the best. The handmade wedding gifts we received are the most memorable. I can’t tell you who bought us our white serving dishes, but I can tell you who made us wedding gifts.

Brilliant! Maybe you should start your own sign business on the side. Anyone would be thrilled to have such a personalized gift.

I think it’s a super wedding gift. Has heart and is unique. More fun than say, a silver serving platter! You’re such a hip DIY-er!

Jen is an excellent teacher! That looks fabulous.

I was going to sign paint this week-end until my kitchen took over my life. Maybe next week-end?
