A DIY turkey day sign

November 16, 2012 by Kim Woodward

Gobble

I have been really enjoying sign-making since Jen so graciously shared her expertise at our sign-making workshop. So, I decided that a fun turkey sign was in the cards for my project this year. I was inspired by the sign pillow made by Jen in the first year of Dare to DIY. So I used a piece of barn board and the turkey was a template from Martha Stewart.

I went with a gobble message, which reminds me of a song we sang in high school madrigal. “Gobble, gobble, gobble, munch, munch, gobble, gobble chomp…” Every time I pass the sign, I sing the song. Henry loves it.

I used chalkboard paint on the turkey, so I think it will be fun to write messages on it. And it goes great with the spruced-up letterpress tray I shared yesterday.

Let’s just ignore the dying fern. This is what we call an experiment. A failing experiment.

I’m loving my little turkey sign. Perfect for Thanksgiving.

A chalkboard turkey!! Love it and the letterpress tray! Keeping plants alive in (and outside for that matter) is overrated. I can’t even keep succulents alive if that makes you feel better!

Cuuuute! I’m really starting to get jealous that you and Michelle got to take that workshop, and yet here I sit, woefully untalented at all things sign-related. That looks adorable–very professional–and I love how it looks next to your letterpress tray! Awesome work.

I love it! It works so well in your room! I think that you need to make one just like that for each season – so that you always have something there.
