A carriage garage door and red barn lights

November 13, 2015 by Kim Woodward

Until we began building our house, I didn’t realize how every decision can clearly be the MOST IMPORTANT DECISION IN THE HISTORY OF TIME.

I’m not joking. My husband no longer wants to debate the merits of different types of light switches.

Actually, I guess he never wanted to do that.

But when it came to the garage door, I was pretty proud of my decision-making abilities. I didn’t even turn to my BFF Pinterest for confirmation that I made the right decision.

Instead, I simply looked at a few options from the garage door company and pointed at one. It’s a carriage style door by CHI Overhead Doors.

I mean, I’m practically solving the major world issues  World peace – check. Garage door – double check.

We purchased the door from a local installation company – who also installed the garage door and opener. They did it in in a couple of hours for just a bit more than if we bought it and installed it ourselves. It was worth every cent.

The garage door was one of the last big things that needed completed to get the house ready for winter. Bing. Bang. Boom.

I also ordered the two exterior fixtures for above the garage.

I was thinking about a barn-style light and then ran across this matte red barn light from build.com that got my wheels turning. My Instagram confirmed that it would be perfect so I ordered it. It’s important that Instagram confirm my choices. And, it really was the right choice.

The red is the perfect pop of color with all the grey and black and white. It gives a little personality and ties into the front door and the barn.

Now, if only we could get the power company to hook up our electricity to the house, we’d be golden. (Patience is not one of our talents.)

Happy Friday, friends!

That pop of red looks great against the gray! Adding a pop of color with neutral colors is one of my favorite things to do, especially on the exterior of a home. Thanks for sharing!

Oh yes! I love it! Especially since I had the same one installed this summer on my home! My siding will be heading the the same direction next summer. However we’re leaning toward very dark navy siding with grey shake. I cant wait to see what direction the house next.

OK, I have to admit, I had my doubts when you wanted the red. It was out of my comfort zone. But I LURVE it. Good choice!!
