There are few things more fun than dreaming about kitchens. About how to make them just-so.
And as we’ve been planning our kitchen, I’ve come across some of the most wonderful cabinet organization tools. It’s pretty amazing to see all the ways you can customize cabinetry to be extra practical and useful.
Our kitchen isn’t exceptionally large, but we’re pretty confident in our ability to thrive in the space. Especially since it will be about 5 times the size of our tiny kitchen right now.
And I want to make every inch count. So I thought I’d share some of my favorite organization ideas – many of these ideas will make it into our kitchen plan sooner or later.
These woven organizers for fruits and vegetables (via Amazon*) are at the top of my list for pantry organization. We always have fresh fruit and vegetables. I’d love to have space to store these in a way that allows the items to “breathe.” I’m not much for having everything out on the counters (if I can help it). So these would a perfect solution – especially for things like onions and potatoes.
For a similar reason, this heavy duty mixer lift (via Amazon*) is such a great solution to storing away the mixer. I don’t use it enough to keep it on the counter. Hello, dust. But it’s also pretty heavy to get out and this is a great work-around.
When it comes to all those pots and pans and cookie sheets and cutting boards, I am digging the idea of a built-in area above the stove or fridge. Those extra deep cabinets can be put to use in a really practical way for pots and pans storage (via Apartment Therapy). And everything is still really accessible.
We will have one built-in pantry in the kitchen (next to the fridge), along with a full closet pantry. (Woot for all that storage!) I think that these pull-out pantry drawers (via Leslie Stephens Design) are a great way to make sure you can actually reach all of the space.
The area around our range will not be very large, but I do have a few narrow-depth cabinets. I think this pull-out cabinet for cookie sheets (via BH&G) is a wonderful solution to make this space very workable.
We ended up losing our corner cabinet in the kitchen design, but those blind cabinets are the worst for storage. This is a great way to use that space – pull out blind corner storage (via Amazon*).
I’m really excited about extra deep drawers in our island, and this peg drawer system (via Amazon*) is a wonderful way to keep everything orderly. (So our dishes and bowls and cups aren’t falling all over each other. The horror!)
Instead of a makeshift silverware organizer, I love the idea of this built-in solution for horizontal storage (via Sunlit Spaces). I think it’s a great way to use every inch of narrower cabinets.
Is it only me who thinks that trash and recycling cans take up far too much floor space? We stored them in our pantry in the last house but they really ate up so much floor space. These pull out garbage and recycling bins (via Amazon*) are a non-negotiable in our new house.
And speaking of space, why not use the space under the sink? (Am I the only one who can never find anything under there?) These pull-out drawers below sink (via IHeartOrganizing) will be a great way to keep all those cleaning supplies and stuff accessible.
Finally, these pull out drawers (wood) (via Amazon*) are the perfect way to make any cabinets a little more usable.
The best part is that most of these ideas can also be added to existing kitchens.
What storage ideas do you love (or want) in your kitchen?

We have a pantry with the pull out drawers…it’s really nice. Kitchen organization is so fun! Wait–is that a really dorky thing to admit to thinking?

We currently have pull out drawers on all our lower cabinets and the spin-y corner cabinet thinger and I looooove them. I debated adding them in our new house because they were going to be $700 and at the time I thought that was too much, but I’m so happy we did. We even got the garbage can pull-out one and I am so excited about it. I hate ugly trash cans that take up room.

I totally agree! I think it’s worth the spending because we use our kitchen so much!

I love all the kitchen ideas. When my sister re-modeled her kitchen they skipped lower cabinets all together and went with drawers. It seem strange at first, but she loves it and if we ever re-do ours I will use drawers instead. They are great because you can pull see everything, but you don’t have to worry about pans and bowls having to be balanced on the shorter pull out drawers that you install in cupboards.
Happy Shopping.

I love the idea of all drawers! Our layout is a little funky in that all drawers isn’t possible (too small of spaces, want a pull out trash, full height pantry, etc.). But I would totally go that route, too! Thanks for sharing!

Holy cow. I was all set to hit “Buy Now!” on the blind corner storage… But $256?! Ouch. I love these ideas. Maybe our carpenter friend can come up something for less $$$.

Is it a bad sign that I think that’s a good price? We have been spending money like we have it and it’s messed up my perspective! But seriously, it really is a great idea and would make a corner cabinet so much more practical. Hope uou can find a way to make one!

Yeah, there are so many great options – but it’s also a bit overwhelming.
