Song lyrics on a Valentine’s staircase

January 30, 2013 by Kim Woodward

I’m not really much of a Valentine’s decorator. A few small things here and there. But Henry makes me wanna fill the house with lovey dovey decor. Because I’m positively dripping with love and I want to make this Valentine’s Day the BESTHOLIDAYEVER. It’s disgusting. So this year, I have completed a few small projects to gussy up the house.

Because clearly my 8-month-old baby cares.

Keeping the song lyrics theme going from our bedroom, here’s my take on Valentine’s decorating the staircase. I loved the storybook staircase at Christmas so much I decided to get them dressed for the day of love.

Same deal as the first time around – I used black cardstock and cut the words in the font “Lobster” on my Silhouette. I added a few red hearts along the way and voila. (I stuck them to the stairs with tape.)

This happens to be a song I sing to Henry a lot, so it’s extra special.

The stairs and woodwork in the staircase are one of my favorite parts of our home, so why not decorate the area. This is such an easy and unique way to make an impact for holidays. Plus, it’s very temporary, making it easy to change.

Now, if I could just get the motivation to stain the railing and paint the baby gate at the top of the stairs (info coming later on that).

What do you think of my Valentine’s Day staircase?

Love this!! It’s so cute and such an easy way to add some Valentine’s decor around the house. I have a Cricut and would totally do this if I didn’t have gross carpeted stairs 🙁 haha.
