We don’t have cable at the Woodwards, mostly because my hubby is cheap. But, it’s also because neither of us watch much television and the money would not be well-spent. Cable ain’t cheap, and we’d rather use that $60-$80/month another way. Or save it. Very novel.
Anyhoo, mostly I don’t miss it.
But, I miss HGTV. Sometimes, I really miss HGTV. Mostly, I can get my fix of beautiful homes through blogs. But, sometimes, I miss HGTV.
Did I mention that I kinda miss HGTV? But, until cable offers me an ala carte menu (hint, hint: cable), we will be sans-HGTV.
And, because my mother-in-law knows me (and loves me), she DVRed the first episode of “Sarah’s House” for me. She thought I’d like it. She was wrong.
I loved it. (Thanks, Joyce.)
I loved it so much that I made her pause it anytime someone dared to speak and then made it clear that no one was allowed to talk for the duration of the show.
Sarah bought this awesome old farmhouse on 50 acres (hello, jealous). She gutted it and will complete a room each week. Is this my kinda show or what?
The first week was the entryway/mudroom/bathroom, which was converted from the original (dark and dingy) living room.
Before:
After:
I seriously adore it all.
- The red doors
- The old chest instead of a wall full of closets
- The fabric for curtains (seriously hunting down some of that for me)
- The old light fixture repurposed (it was an outdoor lantern)
- The woodwork and ceiling

Yes I do without HGTV too. It’s not my fault! I have the landlord’s terrible tv package and sadly it does not include HGTV 🙁
Love that space! I’m a red fan.

The effects are gradual and the result will vary for each user.(vimax pills) However, further review show that most users experience benefits within the first week. In the first month you can expect erections that stay longer than usual and your penile may even start to become wider. penis enlargement pills – http://www.cucumaerot.com

I recently discovered this show also and am obsessed as well. She is definitely my fav on HGTV right now and I cannot wait to see more of this farm house. I’m the same way, I can’t miss a moment. If someone talks I pause the show to make sure I don’t miss a thing.

I love this show…but for some weird reason the DVR is not picking it up to record. So I will just have to live vicariously through the website. Maybe it is a sign that I would spend too much time watching it. But anyway I love her style and had not heard that they were on number 3!

We just got cable after Peachy was born and HGTV is one of my constnat companions throughout the day. (That and the Food Network.) I will definitely have to check this show out, thanks for sharing it with us. (And thanks to Joyce as well. :o)

That room totally looks like you! To a ‘T’! LOVE the red doors and that rug myself!

I didn’t use to watch HGTV but I think I need to start. You can’t find the shows online to watch?

Wow she does great work! We don’t have cable either {just the converter box} so I have no idea who that lady is, but man is she talented!

I now have to say I love YOU! I am in love with Sarah as well. This weekend I was watching the start of that episode (I had no clue she was redoing an old farmhouse which now makes me love her EVEN MORE!). Anyway, about 10 minutes into the show our cable went out and I missed the end results. 🙁 Thank you for sharing!

I love her too! I’m ‘stuck’ in a cable contract for the next 6 months so I’ll just have to enjoy my time with Sarah :).

hmmm need to DVR this. YES! a la carte cable would be AMAZING!

We don’t have cable either… same reasons. I would only subscribe to one channel – HGTV. The hubs would only do the ESPN channels for college football. For 4 channels, it’s just not worth it for us! Love the room! Love the cabinet between the closets idea… which I’d thought of that for my bedroom!

Yup! I love her, too! Possibly my favorite designer!

I LOVE Sarah’s House. I stumbled upon it the other week during the finale. I really want to see the whole season now!
I love her little gay assistant. He’s so sassy.

The entry room is pretty great, yes, but I’m not a fan of the bathroom and kitchen. But, I think you will love one of the guestrooms!
The Brick Cottage says
I love her, too! I’ve only caught a few episodes (it was with another house, a 50’s rancher, I believe) and what I saw was amazing! Especially the bathrooms. The mudroom is fantastic!
Cindy @The Flipping Couple says
Ahhhhh!! Wow, that’s incredibly gorgeous. We’re also sans-cable which is a really good thing because otherwise I’d be glued to HGTV. And that cannot be a good thing.

OMG! I was wondering what this weeks episode was going to be about since she finished a house last week. I was thrilled beyond words when i saw she bought a farm. Love the show. love it. The curtains are too cool. and that brass ball light in the bathroom with the bird wallpaper!! and i hate wallpaper, but seriously. wow.
I can’t wait to see the rest of the house. do you think she’ll have chickens in the back!?
Ally says
Okay,
I love it, but I also loved those beams in the original room!
I get my hgtv fix on their website (they have full episodes) or on hulu. A little House Hunters can go a long ways when you don’t have cable!

So funny! Sarah’s House is my quite-time show. I watch it when the girls are in bed and hubby is off at shooting league. Not even the dog is allowed to be in the room when I watch it. lol.
I adore this room, although it doesn’t look typical Sarah to me. I love it all the same. Can’t wait to get caught up.
Happy Monday.
