I’ve seen variations of word blocks around, and I always think they are cute. So, I asked Ryan if he could make me some solid cubes to make my own.
So, my handy hubby cut me seven blocks from a 4×4 – (They are actually about 3 3/4 inch cubes.) I sanded them a little, but I didn’t mind the wood grain. Then, I added three coats of Glidden eggshell black paint. (Glidden offered a quart of paint free a few months ago – thanks, Glidden.)
Next, I cut vinyl letters on my new Cricut Expression. (YEE HAW! I think I’m gonna love that baby.) They are about 3 1/4 inch letters, all lowercase. I also cut a heart and flower.
I kinda love how they turned out. I think I can come up with a saying for every season. And, they ended up being pretty inexpensive.
Here are some words of the words you can spell:
Love
Welcome
Family
Harvest
Books
Luck
Home
Faith
Spooky
Blessed
Mother
Dream
Friends
Winter
Freedom
Snow
Hope
Easter
St. Pattie’s Day
Maybe for a bookcase?
They aren’t perfectly straight, but I think that’s party of the charm. And, I had a few paint drips, but I love them anyhow. =) (“This is not an act of perfection.” My mantra – ask my mother-in-law how many times I said that while we were painting the house.)
Here’s the breakdown of the letters on each block, if you want to make one yourself. (You can also purchase blocks at the craft store if you don’t want to cut your own.)
One: E O M D
Two: T F B W V
Three: V N L O (flower)
Four: R P E T U
Five: H Y E D
Six: S M K I
Seven: A C R S (heart)
(I started with the letters from a project sheet I printed off ages ago. I added a few extra letters and symbols – instead of only having four per letter. I will probably add more letters as I think of them, so I’ll end up with each of the blocks having five or six letters. It’s kind of nice to have the top blank, but I think it’s fine either way.)
What do you think?

Heya i am for any key moment right here. I came across that aboard so i still find it actually beneficial & the item taught me to be outside a lot. I’m hoping offer one thing all over again and also guide other folks as if you reduced the problem. Heya i am for any key moment right here. I love the blocks. My maiden name is Vowell…so my mom has blocks that spell AEIOU 🙂
I also think it’s cool that they aren’t very straight, gives it a bit more character!

I just love those. When you have blank ones you can cut some vinyl of say 4 leaf clovers for st patty’s or a snowflake for Christmas (since you can remove the vinyl) 🙂
