2010 Garden – First Edition

May 5, 2010 by Kim Woodward

We’re so excited. The majority of the veggies and herbs have been planted.

(Far bed: Variety of Tomatoes, Cilantro and Basil. Middle Bed: Variety of Peppers, Eggplant, Broccoli and Brussels Sprouts. Near Bed: Strawberries, Radishes and Carrots. I have yet to plant the vining crops.)

(Onions and potatoes)

(Cilantro, Oregano, Lemon Balm, Parsley and Basil)

(Pineapple Mint, Rosemary, Spearmint, Mint)

(Chives, Mustard Greens and Lettuce)

And, lookie what I found in the compost pile.

Those are pumpkin vines. Which is totally fate. Because Ryan didn’t really want me to plant them this year on the account of the fact that they take up so much space. But, now that they are growing here, I think we will be keeping them.

We don’t have a veggie/herb garden, but I’m totally inspired by yours! It would be so rewarding to have one… maybe someday!

Oh Kimmy………..I’m so blessed to have seen your yard this evening. It’s even prettier than the pictures which I would have never believed was possible. The garden looks awesome. Your house looks great. And you and Ryan? You two are the absolute best. God sure is good!

Looking good! I love the little boxes for your herbs, esp. the mints. I planted a couple mints last year and pulled them about 1/4 way through the season since they’re so stinkin’ invasive. Thanks for the brilliant idea. Won’t you stop by and see my garden soon? I’ll be posting some we’re growing photos either Thursday or Friday.

Remember how you were house hunting? For a bigger house with big land? Well, there’s a house across the street from me for sale. It’s not big and it certainly doesn’t have big land, but I’m across the street. So I propose this – you move in and take care of your small plot of land AND my small plot of land and grow me some juicy delicious vegetables.

I’m not seeing how you win in this scenario (except of course living across the street from me, which is pretty awesome), so I’ll work on the proposal a little more. In the meantime, I’m jealous of your garden.

Your garden looks amazing! Your soil looks great, and you have so much space. I’m super jealous! I started a seperate blog for my garden, it’s http://www.farmerash.blogspot.com, if you want to follow along 🙂 I still need to type up the text, so far it’s just photos.
Your flowers look absolutely gorgeous, too 🙂 I need to plant some bulbs so I get pretty spring flowers next year!

Wow!!! Your garden is lovely, and I only a litle (okay, a lot) envious! You can tell that a lot of hard work has been done here!

Looks great Kim!!! Love all the herbs….I’m going to try more this year. And compost piles are famous for producing AWESOME pumpkins!!! Mine always does! I can’t grow a pumpkin to save my life, but out of the compost they grow great!! 🙂
