I simply cannot get enough barn quilts in my life.
After creating the large version for our barn, I set my sights on creating some small versions for our patio. This time, I used vinyl and it made the process ridiculously easy and quick.
For the background, I used 12×12 boards I had in the garage and painted them in white (Behr Ultra Premium White) and gray (Behr Dolphin Fin). These boards have been waiting for a new life since 2009 – when I used them to make advent calendars and picture frames. I think they are now perfect as accents beside the windows on our patio. The black and red is perfect!

(Oh! And did you notice that we also have a working outdoor barn light now? Progress, my friends.)

Too cute! Did you come up with the quilt blocks yourself or do they have quaint old fashioned names (like Wedding Ring and Grandmother’s Flower Basket… my two favorite quilts)?
Kim Woodward says
You know, they weren’t named in the program, but I spy bear claw and the Ohio Star (I think).

This is awesome Kim. What a great way to translate quilts to outdoor decor. It almost has a nautical feel too 🙂
Kim Woodward says
You are right – I think that the right colors would really make it feel beachy.
