A turkey day sign for Dare to … give thanks! (Dare to DIY)

Friends … I am really excited to see your Dare to DIY projects on Monday! As a friendly reminder to get those projects completed, Chelsea, Michelle, Rachel and I are going to post our Dare to DIY projects in advance.

And today is time for

Dare to … be thankful!

Gobble

DIY a thanksgiving project to remind you to be grateful during this season. Ideas include a Thanksgiving advent calendar, artwork and banners.

I have been really enjoying sign-making since Jen so graciously shared her expertise at our sign-making workshop. So, I decided that a fun turkey sign was in the cards for my project this year. I was inspired by the sign pillow made by Jen in the first year of Dare to DIY. So I used a piece of barn board and the turkey was a template from Martha Stewart.

I went with a gobble message, which reminds me of a song we sang in high school madrigal. “Gobble, gobble, gobble, munch, munch, gobble, gobble chomp…” Every time I pass the sign, I sing the song. Henry loves it.

I used chalkboard paint on the turkey, so I think it will be fun to write messages on it. And it goes great with the spruced-up letterpress tray I shared yesterday.

Let’s just ignore the dying fern. This is what we call an experiment. A failing experiment.

I’m loving my little turkey sign. Perfect for Thanksgiving.

I hope you’ve been working on your projects for the first Dare to DIY – Dare to be … thankful! Come back Monday morning to link up at NewlyWoodwards, Decor and the Dog, Maybe Matilda or Two Twenty One.

Cuuuute! I’m really starting to get jealous that you and Michelle got to take that workshop, and yet here I sit, woefully untalented at all things sign-related. That looks adorable–very professional–and I love how it looks next to your letterpress tray! Awesome work.
