Today I’m thinking about all those lives lost ten years ago. And all those families who lost loved ones.
Such a tragedy. Still brings tears to my eyes. I was driving myself and my brother to school when we found out the first plane crashed into the World Trade Center. Then a second.
We were shocked. And scared. I think everyone was.
Ryan and I had been dating for two weeks when those planes crashed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. I had a wonderful family and friends who I loved (and still do). But, when I think back to the time now, all I can think about is the loss. I don’t think I really thought about it then. I was only 17 years old.
But now? The thought of losing Ryan? Or our parents? Or friends and family?
Unbearable. My heart hurts to think of it.
So, in my little place in this big world – I’ll continue to remember and be thankful for the terrible sacrifice these people made. And to be grateful and proud to live in the country I do. And to give back in ways I can. And of course, to hold my loved ones a little tighter.
