For those of you who love rooms of the baby variety, it’s time for the Addy room unveil. So those of you who are sick.and.flippin’.tired of Kim posting about a baby that isn’t even hers, now you get to see the baby’s room.
And, no. This doesn’t mean the NewlyWoodwards have baby fever. We’re perfectly content with a niece.
Woot!
I love Addy’s nursery because:
- It’s colorful and fun. Who doesn’t love Dr. Seuss?
- It’s appropriate for a boy or a girl.
- The furniture is all growable, meaning that most of it can totally fit in a older child’s room.
- It has lots of personal touches.
- While there’s a strong theme, it doesn’t feel cheesy. (No offense, but sometimes themes can err on the side of the cheese. Trust me. I’ve been there.) Not this room, it’s just class.
Some favorite deets:
- My sister-in-law found the awesome, huge rug on clearance for a song. (After waiting for 4 months on a back-ordered, very expensive wool rug. Things totally work out for the best, right?)
- Do you see that shelf above? The stuffed animals belonged to the new momma and daddy, and the quilt was made by grandma for their wedding. Isn’t that special?
- The pretty dresser (that I want to steal) came from my in-laws.
- The framed puzzles were put together for Addy by yours-truly for the baby shower. (And she can totally take them apart and use the puzzle pieces if she wants. You know, when she is a bit older. Like 5 weeks.)
- The dots on the wall are vinyl. Which means, totally removable.
In short, I really love this room. I think it feels cozy, safe, homey. And it’s just fun and pretty, in my opinion.
And let’s just take a moment to shout out to my brother-in-law, Adam, who installed all this amazing woodwork throughout the entire upstairs.
The doors. The trim. Gorgeous.
It looks like an old farm house, not a new home. (I mean that in a good way.) They totally went beyond builder basic. Gorgeous.
Another peek in their house. (What? You don’t wander around the houses of your family snapping photos?)
This is the pretty, fabulous guest bedroom. Love. It.
Wanna move in, don’t you? (Not so fast! I am already on the wait list.)
What do you think?

Very sweet! I love the rug and the dots. Dr. Seuss is my favorite children’s author of all time. And his WWII political cartoons are outstanding (from the perspective of a social studies teacher).
It’s a great nursery!

I love the dresser. The shape is similar to the one I grew up with. I like the colors and, like you, that it doesn’t scream “theme”. The wood work is amazing! What a talented pair of bothers.

Love the colors and the theme – that’s not like “I’m going to hit you over the head with this theme” but cohesive. Love it!

So cute! I love nurseries that bust out of the normal farm animal/princess theme. And that dresser is killer.
Congrats on your beautiful little niece. What a treasure.

Love the room.. so cute! I’ve so been wanting to add a Dr. Seuss wall quote to my nephew’s room; either the “youer than you” or “places you will go” quote. Love them!
The woodwork is GORGEOUS! Love those doors!
