Is there anything that screams Christmas more than the color red, plaids, and colorful Christmas lights? Of course not.
And that’s exactly why these elements were perfect for our very merry Christmas tablescape. Why choose just one when you can integrate them all?
More is always more, am I right?
Today, I am excited to be sharing our Christmas tablescape with a lot of other bloggers. (Check out all the beautiful tables at the end of the post. You will be inspired by all the beautiful spaces.)
Our very merry Christmas tablescape
Our eat-in dining room is small but mighty. While some dining spaces go unused – this space gets used all day, every day. From breakfast to computer work to art projects to dinner, it’s one of the most used spaces in the whole house.
It’s also right in the middle of our home, so it sets the tone for our entire holiday home.

That’s why I love to make it feel playful and fun. It’s a space that doesn’t take itself too seriously – including the bright stars and ornaments hanging from the light fixture.
The ornaments are probably one of my favorite elements.
I do some version of this every year, because it’s such a simple way to make a huge impact. It also adds a lot of visual interest without tall centerpieces that block the views when dining.
These ornaments were my mom’s almost 20 years ago. She bought them when a local Seasonal Concepts went out of business. And they are still kicking this many years later.
I have a whole bin of them and they always grace my tree and table.
Speaking of the tree, here’s another little peek of the tree next to our black and red mantel. Because our home is very open, everything needs to flow. And I think the bright reds really pull everything together.
The chairs get adorned with Santa hats, and the centerpiece is a simple low tray with metal houses. (These were a Target find last year.)
I love how everything is mixed and matched.
Instead of just sticking to one pattern, I mixed and matched several different fabrics. The runner is a velvety striped number, the placemats are traditional plaid napkins and then I added my favorite black and white check napkins in each bowl.
I get tons of questions about the dishes – they are the Christmas lights dinnerware from Fiestaware. I’ve only seen them at Younkers – but you can get them online if you don’t have a Younkers nearby. (Bonus: They are on sale right now.) If you are a Fiesta lover like I am, they mix and match beautifully with all the other dinnerware.
In our white corner hutch, I found a home for our chef Santa and some other holiday items. And you can also see our wedding pinecone wreaths on the side of the cabinetry.
We may not have a huge formal dining room, but I think our dining area is perfectly festive for the holiday season.
