Henry’s party was on Saturday and this year it was all things space.
I will be sharing more details from the party later this week, but one of my favorite details was creating simple constellations into the party decor – especially this fun and easy constellation table cloth for the food table.
This was so stinkin’ cute in person – and took less than 10 minutes to make. Usually, the tablecloths add nothing to the theme – but this one was a perfect way to tie in the space theme.
To start, I picked up a bunch of different Sharpie paint markers at Michaels.
The Sharpie paint markers are the perfect way to add a clean, permanent look to almost any surface – I added constellations to the vinyl tablecloth as well as cardboard serving containers and goodie bags.
Why I love to use Sharpie paint markers:
- I can use them on almost any surface – and it stays opaque and glossy.
- The markers don’t fade.
- They are water-resistant.
- They dry quickly.
Basically, they rock. I like to have lots of colors around, and I picked up a few new ones for this project. (Be sure to check your local newspaper and online for Michaels coupons while supplies last.)
I found a few inspiration images as we were planning the party and just eyeballed the constellations from this downloadable geoboard. I also made up a few constellations of my own.
But who knows? Maybe they just haven’t been discovered yet.
I love how it came together – and the Sharpie paint markers made it easy. (I didn’t worry about perfection, but I could have also used a ruler for more perfect lines.) The best part – the little astronaut loved it, too. Not as much as the astronaut helmet, but I don’t blame him for that.
Quick and easy projects are my favorite – and this packed a big punch.
