We had a plastic hose reel in our last house.
It. Was. Horrible.
We cursed that silly thing so much. It was always tipping over and kinking the hose and driving us bonkers.
So, we ditched it when we sold the last house and created something way simpler at the barn.
I have actually used this vintage wash basin as a pot for plants in the past. I got it at a garage sale for $5. But this year, Ryan mounted it right to the side of the barn for our hose.
It has the perfect rustic look for our red barn. And it’s also really practical. It’s simple to roll up the hose for storage. It looks nice.
And there’s space to store garden tools and the like inside, which I think will be handy.
What do you think of our little upcycle?

WOW! Great idea!

Now that is a genius move. I really hate rolling up the hose. I usually just leave in on the garage floor and Nate yells at me. Maybe I just need to get a super cute wash tub to make things better.

Yeah, I’m sure this would solve all the world’s hose problems.

I absolutely love this idea! Galvanized pails are such chic objects to decorate with in farmhouse settings. Such an iconic look, but the way you two used it is so unique and simple.
Kim Woodward says
Thanks, Erin. And it helps that I had everything on hand. Score.

This is so great! I was totally thinking about the storage inside – small garden tools, brushes, gloves, etc. It looks SO CUTE on the side of the barn. A perfect fit!

Such a great idea! Our hose holds is so ugly, I’d much rather have something like this!
Kim Woodward says
I think it’s a good solution – plus it’s cute.

I’m pretty sure I stole the idea or concept from somewhere. No geniuses here. 😉
