Are you still trying to get all your gifts wrapped?
Get your kids involved with these fun homemade ornaments. The best part? They are made with supplies you already have on hand.
Henry and I made these for gift tags this year. At only two years old, he was able to help me make the dough, roll it out and cut them with cookie cutters. We had a blast.
Here’s how to make them:
- In a bowl, mix 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup of salt, 1/2 cup cinnamon, and 3/4 cup of very warm water.
- Knead the dough with clean hands (with a little flour) until it rolls nicely into a barn.
- Roll out dough with a rolling pin and cut with cookie cutters. (We used a drinking straw to make the holes.)
- Let these dry out (ours took a day). And then seal or paint.
To finish, I painted them all (in Behr MARQUEE Silver City).
After the base coat dried, Henry and I went to town painting them.
He painted all the stars himself with a variety of Behr paints I had in the garage. (I spy Barn Red, Caicos Turquoise, Starless Night, and a few others – I may be a paint hoarder).
Then, we used his thumbprints to create vintage Christmas lights in bright colors. (You know I love them.)
So, get out your supplies and get crafting! There’s still time to make these rad gift tags that you won’t have to toss after the holidays.
Thanks to Behr Paint for providing paint and inspiration for projects all year long. And thanks to you for supporting sponsors that help make projects like this possible.
