It’s Dare to DIY day, friends! Specifically – it’s Dare to be thankful (the linkup is over at Shift Ctrl Art). You won’t want to miss all the inspiration. (And feel free to link up all your thanksgiving projects today.)
This year, I created something with my mom last week while we were visiting. She’s hosting Thanksgiving in Arizona with her friends. We were recently at my cousin’s wedding with a thumbprint tree as the guestbook and thought it would be great for Thanksgiving, too.
We picked up an unfinished tray at the craft store with a 40 percent off coupon. After a coat of gold paint, I used this free printable tree from Style Unveiled as a template to draw the tree with blank paint marker.
When guests arrive, they’ll add their own thumbprint with paint. Henry and I already added ours.
Hopefully it will be a fun keepsake for this Thanksgiving and beyond.
Now it’s time to go check out all the fun Thanksgiving projects at Shift Ctrl Art. We’ll be featuring our favorites on Instagram, Pinterest and even on our blogs. Here are the great projects from all my favorite cohosts.

This would be fun to do each Thanksgiving and watch those finger prints grow. Well, hopefully just the kids. I hope my fingers are done growing. This is going nowhere fast.
Also, take me to that scenery!

I guessed completely wrong about the dremel! oh well–it’s still adorable, dremel or no dremel!

Awesome idea! I love the gold, and it will be so fun to look back at the tree and who spent Thanksgiving together.

This project is totally awesome. I love the shape of the tree! And as someone who can never think of anything clever to put in a guest book, I like how this takes the pressure off. I can do a thumbprint. Such a fantastic idea Kim!

I’m the same way about guestbooks. So much pressure.
