While Ryan and Kyle were busy at work getting the metal up on the walls at the barn, I was also busy. Using the scraps from the metal to make fun decorative crafts.
My brother thinks this is why everything takes far longer than it should. Because I’m not doing anything “productive” or “on-task.”
I get too distracted by pretty, shiny things like corrugated metal.
I however, disagree that this is not productive. And he came around, too. He even stopped his “productive on-task” work to help me make this rad arrow to display in the barn.
Playing with tin snips is moderately addictive and also strangely therapeutic. I started with a W.
For winning. And Woodward. And why the heck not?
Then, I moved onto the arrow. Which Kyle believed was taking too long and was not precise enough. So he used his saw instead.
I finished off the details with tin snips. it’s not perfect, but I think it’s charming.
Safety tip: Metal is sharp, so this is a fair warning that you should probably wear gloves. Nobody needs to get that rust in an open cut.
I also made a Christmas tree and a pumpkin with my tin snips. (Which are actually my dad’s tin snips. But he doesn’t know yet that I’m planning to keep them forever.)
Neither the tree nor the pumpkin actually looks like its intended subject. But I won’t be deterred. More metal projects are on the horizon.
What do you think of my quick distraction craft?
