It’s official. Our house is for sale.
I was extra patient about everything – it took about 4 hours before I asked Ryan why no one has bought it yet.
Do you think my expectations are unrealistic?
Here are a few photos I took of the house after finishing EVERY SINGLE THING ON OUR SELL-THE-HOUSE LIST. (Can you believe we finished everything?)
We tried for sale by owner on our first house and it didn’t work for us. We ended up listing it anyhow, and then it sold quickly. Since we have so much on our plate right now, we decided to skip right to a realtor. We chose the realtor who recently sold Ryan’s grandmother’s house and she’s been very responsive to us so far.
Now, we simply cross our fingers and toes that it sells quickly. If you are local, I’d also be happy to send you the listing.

Do you have any negative feelings about selling your current house? This was a huge part of your lives and blog, where you first brought Henry home. just wondering if there was a reason you didn’t decide to keep this as a rental?
Kim Woodward says
Hm, interesting question. And fair.
Short answer – no, I don’t have any negative feelings about it. We are both so ready to move to the property. We bought the land when I was very pregnant and I am much more sentimental about living there than I ever was here.
There are also a lot of reasons that I’m ready to leave this house – there are only two bedrooms, it’s not an open layout, and it’s on a fairly busy street (although we have a fenced yard). It’s also not the school district we want and we are really close in proximity to our neighbors. These are all things that aren’t super conducive to our lives with Henry.
I guess I just sort of always knew this was coming, so I never really got so super attached to this house. Also, I’m just not really that sentimental. I’ll probably have a wave of sentimentality when we actually sell and leave, but right now, I’m just ready to get.out.of.here.
Also, we just have so many balls to juggle right now. Having one less (house-shaped) ball would be great.
As for why sell over renting – there is really one main reason. We are using the sale of this house to pay for the build of our new home so we don’t have to worry about lending.

I’m sure that it’s already sold by now because I am soooo far behind. If not what’s wrong with people, it’s adorable! I can’t believe you knocked out that whole list. You’re my hero.

Thanks! Keeping the house clean is the hardest part for me (and Henry). And being patient. I just want it sold NOW.
