As Henry gets bigger, I’ve been thinking a lot about what I “should” be doing as a parent. What I should be focusing on to “succeed.”
I’m using a lot of quotes because, let’s be honest here, there’s no real “should” or “succeed” in parenting. No finish lines or trophies.
Although, I could seriously use a trophy some days. Made of solid chocolate.
One thing I’ve been thinking about a lot is that I really want to raise Henry to be a positive force. Someone who thinks beyond himself and goes out of his way to help others. Someone who encourages and supports those around him. (This is also what I want to be. Work in progress.)
(I mean, basically I just want him to be a lot like his dad – who stops on the side of the road to help someone who is stuck in the snow and who drops everything and rushes over to a neighbor when he sees she needs help lifting a heavy piece of furniture.)
Where was I?
Oh yeah … I made Henry a shirt with one of my favorite sayings. It sort of aligns with what I’m talking about – I really just want him to be the good. And also, he reminds me to believe there is good in the world.
I’m sharing this shirt over on the Silhouette blog today.
I hope you’ll stop over. This is one of my favorite shirts I’ve made.

Love the saying and focus. Is it OK to copy? Or is it copyrighted?
Wonderful and inspiring.

Well, I just cut the phrases. So it’s not really all that exciting. But, it can be fun.
