If you were paying attention, you already got a sneak peek at today’s project in yesterday’s Easter recap.
They are fun and simple personalized tote bags for kids. Another great gift idea after last week’s summer beach bucket.
Henry used his bag for egg hunts this year, and I also whipped up a few for our niece and nephew for their Easter gifts. But they would be perfect for any holiday or occasion. So you don’t have to store them away for most of the year.
In fact, I think they are going to become my go-to gift bag for all ages. What could be better than a gift sack that keeps on giving? They’d be perfect for toys or library bags or even grocery bags.
I made the larger one for my 3-year-old niece, and two smaller versions for Henry and his cousin Spencer. All of the tote bags were picked up at Hobby Lobby at less than $2/apiece. (I also used a coupon for the smaller versions so they ended up at $1/apiece.)
I used the Silhouette flocked heat transfer material (provided to me at no cost as part of my gig as a Silhouette Design Team member). I added this tractor shape to Henry’s. The others were simple names in a circle or scalloped circles.
All three bags came together in 15 minutes and most of that was ironing time. It was a fun, personal touch for gifts. And Henry’s has also become his favorite place to store all of the trains and tractors and cars. So, I call it a win.
Are you a big fan of personalized gifts, too?

Will you be providing a tutorial on this? Since the upgrade to V3, I am so confused about cut lines and how to change things. I do not understand the whole change line color thing.
Kim Woodward says
Hmmmm….. I guess I’m not sure what you mean. I just go right through and cut like normal in V3. I know there are lots of options, but the default (I think) is to cut it all.
