If you know me, you know I love to celebrate. I love to entertain. And I loooooooove showers. So when our family friend (who’s like a little sister to me) got engaged, my mom and I immediately got planning.
(Or, more accurately, my mom said “we should throw a shower” and then I started planning in earnest, with design plans and event checklists and secret Pinterest boards and other totally normal things.)
The invites finally went out to guests and I couldn’t wait to share them here. They may be my favorite invites EVER. And I am a sucker for a beautiful invitation.
We decided to throw a kitchen shower, so we booked a great local Italian restaurant for lunch (that my uncle happens to manage). He was able to work it out to get a cooking demonstration by the chef. So that will be an amazing treat for us all. (And a good “activity” for those who hate shower games. Gasp – who could ever hate them?)
I didn’t want the feel of the shower to be too stuffy, so I knew the Filled With Love invites at Tiny Prints would be perfect (disclosure: the invites were provided to me for free by Tiny Prints). I love the red and aqua color scheme and the design made me think of the saying, “The Kitchen is the Heart of the Home.” I played off of this for the wording on the invites and think it really turned out nicely.
The addition of the custom trim scalloped border may be my favorite part. It makes them feel extra special. And I was able to add a line about the two available registries on the back. (I think the back is as pretty as the front.)
To add a little pizazz to the envelope, I made this fun house/heart stamp at craft night this month. (If you are interested in hand-carving stamps, I suggest you check out my friend Michelle’s tutorial at Decor and the Dog.) I added the bride and groom’s initials and plan to use this on the napkins and other paper goods at the shower. A little washi tape to seal and voila – a perfectly special invite for a special bride.
Another tip: I really like to get matching thank-you notes when getting invites. This is one less thing the bride-to-be needs to worry about. Plus, they are so stinkin’ cute that she can use them for any shower or occasion. (These notes are the Filled with Love folded thank you notes from Tiny Prints.)
The RSVPs have already started rolling in, and everyone is commenting on the invites. Sometimes, I think a great invite actually helps you get a better response from guests because it feels like an event you don’t want to miss. (But maybe that’s just wishful thinking. I wish everyone was good about RSVPing.)
In any case, I can’t wait to share more details for the shower. The red and aqua make for such a fun color scheme and we have lots of fun ideas up our sleeves. But, that will have to wait until May.
Until then, what do you think of our little invite package?

I have to admit that I’m late to the “washi craze.” But it did make a fun finishing touch for these invites.
