I am actually beginning to believe that I will never have the opportunity to plant seeds in the ground. I’m typically a glass-half-full kind of woman, but I would also consider myself a realist.
And the realist in me is telling me that IT IS GOING TO BE WINTER FOREVER.
I would have hoped to have the garden ready to plant cool season plants by now. But the cold spells we’ve been getting in the Midwest have me holding back on putting anything in the ground. Ryan did add a final layer of compost and tilled up the garden area last weekend. Next up is measuring out my rows and adding labels. But for me, planting is still a few weeks out at this point.
Until the time comes to plant in the ground, I continue to find joy in my plants that were started from seeds. Including the Gro-ables I started a few weeks back.
When I shared some seed-starting tips and ideas, I mentioned that I believe that starting plants from seed is one of the most rewarding parts of gardening. And it truly is.
I’ve started a ton of plants that are under lights in my basement. I’ll share progress soon.
But the three Miracle Grow Gro-ables I started were the most simple. I just added water and put them by a window. Bing, bang, boom.
This is my dill plant. I can’t believe how big it’s already gotten. I loved using the Gro-ables so much that I’m thinking about trying a few more and making a salad and herb garden section in our large garden plot.
I can’t wait for this dill plant to grow nice and big. I mentioned a few recipe ideas, but that cucumber-dill dip is on my mind.
After all, there are few things better than growing your own food.
About Gro-ables.
Gro-ables take the guesswork out of gardening and starting plants from seeds. It’s a brand new product from Miracle-Gro – a pre-packaged seed pod that makes it simple to grow your own herbs and veggies from seed.
It’s designed for those who are new to gardening, but have always wanted to growing their own food. The pods are also guaranteed to grow (when used as directed). And at only $1.29-$1.49 per pod, it’s really affordable, too.
So, who’s growing your own food this year? And what’s your favorite garden-fresh recipe?

I’m going to need to do this when I actually have a place to have a garden. I kill everything. It’s amazing my dogs and baby are alive. … I couldn’t even keep a hamster alive. Apparently you need to feed and water them.

I’ll have to check these out. We are planning on planting a few things this year. Last year we planted a few seeds and a few plants, and we managed to get a few veggies 😉 Thanks for sharing!

I’ve got some Grow-ables! They just need to be popped in the ground, or a pot, soon!

Oh that’s so smart! I feel like even I could not kill that. Fingers crossed that you’ll be able to actually put them in the ground before NEXT winter!
