Pennant quilts are making me a bit of a one-trick pony. But this is a pony I’m okay with riding.
My most recent pennant quilt was made for my friend Amanda, who asked me to make something in red, coral, pink and aqua. I immediately remembered my hoard of my very favorite fabric line – Bliss by Bonnie & Camille for Moda. I’ve used this fabric on casserole carriers, quilts, bibs, curtains and skirts. It feels both vintage and modern. It’s girly, but also classic. And I want to cover every space in my house with the color combo. Actually, when we found out I was pregnant, these were the fabrics that would have been all over a room for a little girl.
But since we were so lucky to get my little Henry-man, we went with navy instead. And the stash of this fabric remained in my fabric bins for future projects.
This is one of those future projects.
I love that I was able to use a variety of fabrics in a variety of colors. There are all shades of pink and red, some aqua and also some grey. I backed and bound the quilt in the grey chevron.ย
It feels eclectic, but also cohesive.
I hop that this quilt provides warmth, comfort and style for Amanda’s sweet baby girl, who arrived the same week that the quilt made it to her new home.
Happy weekend, friends!

I just love your quilts. I’ve always wanted to make one. Maybe I’ll have to make one or two for my boys. The quilt is so lovely!

Thank you so much – these quilts are truly the easiest. You can do it!

Well, pretty sure I say it every time you post a pennant quilt, but I love this! Someday…I’m going to learn to quilt. And then I’ll make a pennant quilt. So likely for my grandchildren. Or great-grandchildren. Yeah, I’m not holding my breath either.
Kim Woodward says
You could totally make one, right now. It’s the simplest type – if you can do a pillow, you can do this.

I am just loving your quilts Kim. This one, the one you made for Kenz. I really love how you are re-thinking the traditional and using such fresh fabrics with great colors. And the free form patterns are so amazing as well. I much prefer this over the traditional patterns. So amazing!!!
