Do you love to create projects for your home that are made by you? So that you can afford it and so that your house doesn’t look like everyone else’s?
I do so love to deck the halls. (You can check out our whole house tour here.)
And I’m seriously so excited that my three co-hosts feel as strongly about decking those halls. And they do it darn well. Here are their projects for this week:
(Colorful pom pom wreath via Primitive and Proper, Joy to the World print via Maybe Matilda , Christmas countdown via Decor and the Dog,Β Plaid and Union Jack pillows via NewlyWoodwards)
And I love taking everything out each year. This year, I know I wanted to add a little red to the sofa. The quilted pillows I made a few years ago just didn’t have enough bright red so I moved those to the bedroom and started with a vintage wool throw I picked up in an Instagram sale.
I loved the colors of the throw and the fringe, but the size was too short for us to really use, so it was mostly for looks. I thought it would make great pillow covers for Christmas to replace some covers that had faded. And it was clearly meant to be because the throw made two 18 inch pillow covers with very little excess. I simply cut the throw in half to 17.5 inches by the length of the throw. Then, i just wrapped the pillow and pinned to make an envelope enclosure. 10 minutes later, I had it all sewed up and ready to insert the pillow form.
I loved the fringe, so I actually used the “envelope” side as the front. I added two simple wooden buttons from Wal-Mart to the front. I think it was worth the $.97/each. (These buttons are purely for looks. They aren’t functioning.)
The only downfall – the dogs are obsessed with the new pillows and have already covered them in dog hair. But what good are pillows if they aren’t used? (I also whipped up a few Union Jack pillows with some awesome quilting fabric I had. I’ll share those later, but I think they look so cute together with the English throw.)
I think it feels very Christmas-y, but not so much that I can’t leave the pillows out all winter. It’s very cozy. In an English cottage sort of way.
What do you think of our Christmas pillows?

Love what you did with the throw, Kim. And keeping the tasseled end for the pillow is perfect. Reminds me of a warm and toasty scarf. Can’t wait to learn more about the Union Jack pillow, too! Thanks for hosting this great link up!

Love those pillows–so cozy looking! Our dogs take over all of our throw pillows, too. I’m like, “seriously? some dogs aren’t even allowed on the couch, but you guys have to lie on the couch AND on top of the pillows?!” Oh well. Thanks so much for hosting!
Kim Woodward says
Right? I don’t understand how our dogs got so stinking spoiled.
Thanks for linking up.
